It was almost 7:30 now and Auntie sat up on the edge of her bed. Dukee jumped up and hopped down onto the floor. He meowed as if to say good morning or it was about time. Auntie got up, opened a container, and broke apart a few pieces of dehydrated chicken that Dukee gets for breakfast. She put the small bowl of chicken in front of Dukee and barely got her hand out of the way. Dukee loves his chicken, even when it’s dry.
With her Lamb-chop toy in her mouth, Mia trotted from her bedroom, through the family room, and down the hall. She dropped Lamb-chop in the main walkway behind the leather sofa. She meowed at her toy and then tapped it with her paw. Mia then jumped up onto the back of Mom’s recliner and climbed up to the top of it. She saw a shadow on the wall and stood up to reach for it. The shadow was just out of her reach though.
Dukee walked out of his bedroom and into the family room. Auntie knew that Dukee probably wanted to go out onto the screened porch so she followed him. She opened the sliding glass and let him out. He ran over to the far corner of the screen porch because he saw a lizard.
“Larry, is that you?” Dukee asked.
“Hi Dukee,” Larry clung to the outside of the screen.
“What are you doing?” Dukee sat down.
“Well, I was passing through when I saw these little bugs flying around. So, I climbed up here in the hope to eat a few of them,” Larry looked at Dukee.
Dukee watched as Larry stretched his neck out and shot his tongue out at the flying bugs.
“Mmm, I got a few,” Larry said.
“Eww,” Dukee made a scrunched face.
Mia happen to walk through the kitchen on the way to her bedroom and saw Dukee out on the porch. She walked up to the sliding glass door and saw Dukee talking to Larry. Hey, that’s Larry, Mia thought. She tapped on the glass and Dukee turned his head to look.
“Mia’s at the door,” Dukee said to Larry.
Larry peeked through the screen and waved at Mia. Mia waved back at Larry and then walked toward her bedroom.
“She doesn’t come out here?” Larry asked.
“No, she prefers not to,” Dukee said.
“I understand that… Some noises can be loud for you cats,” Larry said.
“Don’t you have that problem with loud noises?” Dukee asked.
“No, a cat's hearing is more sensitive than lizards,” Larry stretched his neck out again.
Just like that, Larry’s tongue shot out again and got some more bugs.
“There, that will satisfy me until lunchtime,” Larry swallowed the bugs.
Dukee shook his head and couldn’t understand how bugs taste good to him.
“Don’t knock it until you try it, kid,” Larry looked at Dukee.
“I have tried it by accident, and yuck, I don’t like them,” Dukee said.
Larry laughed a little and adjusted his feet on the screen, “well, not to eat and run kid, but I’ve got somewhere I have to be. Enjoy your day and I’ll see you later.”
“Okay Larry, you have a good day too,” Dukee watched as Larry climbed down the screen.
Dukee walked over to the rug that’s out on the porch and laid down, I just don’t understand how bugs taste that good to him.

We apparently had a prowler in the house last night. Thankfully it was a furry prowler. When I got up this morning I went to the kitchen to get Callie's food. I got two little clean bowls and table knife out of the dishwasher and set them on the stove. We have a smooth top stove so it get's used as a counter also. There, all over the stove were long pale cat hairs. Sophie must have been up on the stove. I will remember in the future not to leave dirty dishes sitting on it. Callie used to get up there when I was fixing her food bowl but I'm sure it wasn't her hair. She has short hair. And I have sprayed her with water often enough now that she doesn't get on the stove. I've never seen Marie on the counters. She gets on the kitchen chairs all the time and sometimes gets up on the table. Sophie is getting braver all the time.
