The next day started like usual where Dukee would have some breakfast. After his breakfast, Auntie knows that he likes to go out onto the back screen porch for a little while. She let him out and he saw a squirrel in the grass of the backyard. Dukee crept up to the bottom of the screen and slowly sat up on his haunches. He peeked at the squirrel as it was sitting there eating something… Probably a nut.
Something then startled the squirrel, and it ran up the Crape Myrtle tree. It looked around and jumped branch to branch to get to the fence. Dukee watched as it scurried along the fence to the tree that we think is its home. Because it disappeared, Dukee was ready to go back into the house. Auntie usually checks on him every five minutes to see if he wants in, and this time he did.
Dukee walked around the wingback chair that now sits where the chaise lounge was. Auntie went back into her bedroom to work on her writing. Dukee followed her in and hopped up onto the bed. Auntie sat in the chair this time instead of the bed, so Dukee rubbed his face on the corner of her laptop. Because she stayed there Dukee hopped down and jumped onto the stool by the window. He laid down and watched for anything to move outside of the window.
Mia had gotten her breakfast earlier and just got up from a nap. She started to run from one end of the house to the other and back. Suddenly we heard a bang on the other side of the bedroom wall. Mia must have hit the door wide open again. Then she ran fast to the front living room again and back to her room. She jumped up onto her bed and ran around in a large circle, and plopped down. She was breathing heavily. She made Mom laugh… What a silly little girl.
Mia didn’t stay laying very long though. She was up within a minute and jumped down off the bed. She batted one of her toys around in the room before she got bored and took off like a flash again. This time as she came trotting from the front living room, Dukee stepped out into the family room.
“Are you exercising again?” Dukee asked.
Mia dropped the toy from her mouth, “I guess you could say that.”
“Did you bounce off the wall before?” Dukee scratched his ear.
“No, I hit the door by accident and it hit the wall,” she said.
“Oh, yeah it did seem awfully loud,” Dukee looked at her.
“Well I’ll see you later,” Mia picked up her toy and carried it into her bedroom.
“Okay,” Dukee watched as she walked away.
I might as well go back to my room, Dukee thought.
Pleas join me again for more of: Two Cats And A House.
Our Marie races around the house too. She whacks into furniture and bounces off. When she lands she continues running in the new direction. Makes us dizzy watching her. We have two tall cat towers, one at each end of the living room wall unit. She races up one, runs across the top of the wall unit and down into the other tower. The towers get to rocking and thumping on the wall so loud. I think if they weren't wedged up against the wall unit and the wall they would fall over. She sleeps in them and gets treats in them. Callie only gets up in it to eat her treats. Sophie has a tower out in my sewing room but a lot of times Callie chases her out of it. Sophie is getting a little braver all the time though. A week or so ago I saw her standing up on her hind legs sniffing the bottom shelf of the tower I put Marie's treats in. Last night I was sitting in my recliner with my legs up and Csllie was laying on my legs. Sophie got brave and jumped up on my lap. Callie let her stay for a little while. Sophie got scared and ran off when I coughed. We got all these furries back in 2016. It wasn't until last year in June that Sophie has come out of hiding to spend time in the living room with us. She lets Paula touch her as she walks passed but she won't get up in the chair with her. The other two will walk across her lap to get to me but they don't stay with her. When we first got them they only wanted Paula. Now it is me. Callie sleeps with me but Marie gets up on Paula's bed to play when she goes to sleep. They all have their weird quirks but we love them any way.
