Dukee was lying on the bench at the front window when Mia walked into the dining room. He glanced back and saw Mia walking over to him. Mia looked at Dukee and then jumped up onto the bench at the far end.
Dukee flicked his tail and then looked at Mia, “guess who I met this morning?”
Mia knew that it was still early in the day and didn’t hear anyone come to the door so she was curious, “you met someone already this morning? Who?”
“Well, I actually saw her a couple of days ago but she finally introduced herself to me this morning,” Dukee said.
“Who?” Mia said in a curious tone.
“Larry’s daughter Bindi,” Dukee said.
“Our Larry the lizard Larry?” Mia looked at Dukee and asked.
“Yep, his daughter Bindi has been hanging around my bedroom window. I thought it was just another lizard trying to annoy me until this morning,” Dukee said.
“So why did she wait so long before introducing herself to you?” Mia asked.
“She said that she wanted to make sure that I was as nice as her dad had said,” Dukee said and looked out the window.
“Oh okay. Does she seem nice?” Mia asked.
“Yes, she does. She said that her dad Larry has told the family all about us,” Dukee said and then licked his right paw.
“How come he hasn’t been around lately?” Mia asked.
“I guess he and his wife have been traveling quite a bit,” Dukee said while watching a small bird land on the grass in the front yard.
“Oh, that makes sense then. It makes me wonder about our other friends though, like Carrie and Rafael” Mia said.
“Yeah, I wonder how they are doing too, but they have their families just like we have ours,” Dukee said.
“Yes, that’s true… It takes a lot of energy to put up with you,” Mia giggled.
Dukee slowly turned his head and looked at Mia, “yeah, I love you too.”
Family love may not always be blood related, but togetherness is what makes it special. Do you know someone who you find special but are not blood related?

I understand the scratcher. We left 3 of those home alone while we came here. We are returning home tomorrow. We left lots of food, water and kitty litter down for them. We propped all the inside doors openso they couldn't shut anybody up. Hopefully they will forgive us. I tried to catch them to board them at the vet. They tore me up and went into hiding and I couldn't find them. So it's on them that they were all home alone, lol.
Oh and I gave Travis' wife Tanya a copy of you Spook Season. She was very surprised and happy. She was going to look you up on Substack. Not sure if she has had time to do that yet. Her name is Tanya Honeysette.
