All dressed and ready to go home, Linda smiled when she saw the discharge nurse walk into the room. Joann smiled when she saw who wheeled the wheel chair in for Linda. Linda noticed that the transporter smiled at Joann first.
“I take it you two know each other already?” Linda smiled and climbed into the wheel chair.
“Hello Linda, I’m Jack and I will be taking you to your ride today.”
“Nice to meet you Jack,” Linda smiled at Joann.
Cathy grabbed her purse and the release papers, and followed Joann and Linda to the elevator. Linda had to brag about her cousin and asked Jack if he knew that Joann was going to college in Texas. Cathy just listened as the two of them talked to Jack the whole way down to the entrance of the hospital.
“I’ll get that car,” Cathy pulled her keys out of her purse.
Once Cathy drove the car up to the entrance, Jack held the wheel chair still while Linda stood up and climbed into the car. Joann told Jack that she will call him before she goes back to Texas. Linda smiled and said goodbye to Jack while Joann got into the car.
“Take care Linda,” Jack said.
“Thank you for your help Jack,” Cathy hollered out the open window.
“My pleasure,” Jack waved.
Joann closed the car door and waved at Jack as Cathy drove away.
“So, are you going to make a date with him before you go back to school?” Linda asked Joann.
“I don’t know. I think that I should spend my time with you two before I go back,” Joann said.
“Well, you could go to lunch or dinner with him at least once. Then you’ll know if he interests you enough to date him later,” Cathy looked at Joann in the rearview mirror.
“That’s true aunt Cathy,” Joann smiled.
Before Cathy and the girls went home, Cathy suggested stopping at the grocery store so that she can pick up the ingredients to make their favorite meal. Joann and Linda happily agreed to stop since taco night it is.
At Salt Lake Preserve, deputy Dean hiked up the mountain and searched around for anything that looked out of place. Since Steve’s disappearance, no one else has been in the preserve that they know of. So, anything that might appear odd could be a clue. Deputy Dean walked the entire top of the mountain in a couple of hours and didn’t find anything suspicious. The only thing that she made a note about was the way the dirt on the ground looked. Some of it seemed to have a swirl pattern to it.
“I suppose it could be caused by a helicopter, but this is were Becky said she saw the alien space craft,” deputy Dean took pictures with her cell phone.
When deputy Dean was done searching, she headed back down the mountain. She decided that before it got dark, that she would quickly walk over to the open field where Linda was brought back. With a closer look at the area, Deputy Dean noticed the slight swirl pattern again, only with the grass. She snapped a few pictures with her phone before heading to her patrol car. This just goes to show that something has been hovering over the ground, she thought.
Later that evening while Cathy was preparing everything for their taco dinner, Linda convinced Joann to call Jack. So, while Joann was chatting with Jack, Linda skyped with her friends on her computer. Linda had previously tied a scarf on her head so it wouldn’t be such a shock to them when talking to her. What Linda didn’t realize was that Joann had already sent her friends a photo of her when she was bald and in a coma.
At the police station, Mrs. Jackie Brown called and wanted to speak to the sheriff. She heard about Steve being abducted and asked what he was doing about it. Sheriff Luis told Jackie about the cameras, but she asked how that was going to get Steve or even her son back. She said that someone has to go into the space craft when it arrives to get him. The sheriff knew that Jackie was making a good point, and told her that he will figure something out.
“If Steve and your son are still alive, we will get them back,” the sheriff said.
Mrs. Brown wasn’t so sure on the action that was being taken. She volunteered to go into the light when it arrives and hopefully get taken up, but sheriff Luis refused her offer.
“Even if that were to happen, It’s too dangerous Jackie. Trust me, we will find your son,” the sheriff said.
Mrs. Brown hung up the phone, and thought about what the sheriff said. Just then, her phone rang. Linda found Mrs. Brown’s phone number through Google search and decided to call her. Linda introduced herself to Jackie and asked if she had a missing son. Jackie was surprised but excited to talk to Linda. She told Linda that she heard about her abduction and wanted to talk to her since it happened. Linda told her only what she has remembered so far. When Jackie started to talk about her son and how old he would be now, Linda couldn’t help but tell her about her vision of him.
“So you have seen him?” Jackie asked.
“No, not in person, but the vision of him looks similar to his picture online. I wanted you to know that it’s possible that he is still alive,” Linda said.
“Well, I know that he is still alive. I would know it if he wasn’t,” Jackie said.
Linda apologized if she sounded insensitive but reassured Jackie that she wants to try and help her. The two of them talked for another half an hour until Linda’s mom called her to dinner. Linda told Mrs. Brown that if she remembers anything else, or thinks of anything that she will let her know.
