Deputy Rhonda Dean and sheriff Luis were at the police station talking about the most recent report of a UFO that was seen the night before. She told him that if it’s the same UFO that abducted Linda and brought her back, that maybe they need to do something about it. Deputy Dean also reminded him that Jackie Browns son is still missing because of a possible alien abduction. The sheriff looked at deputy Dean and contemplated for a moment.
“I really don’t want to close the preserve to the public though,” the sheriff said.
“It would only be for a while. We can put a camera up out there where Linda was abducted and see if we catch anything on it,” deputy Dean suggested.
“Do you really believe that aliens exist?” The sheriff looked at Rhonda.
“I don’t know, but we have people in our community who believe they have seen them.”
Sheriff Luis leaned back in his desk chair and thought for another moment. He looked at deputy Dean and asked her to gather up all the UFO reports that they have gotten. He told her to find out all the details as to where the people have seen the the UFO’s.
“If the sightings’ seem to be in the same area then I’ll think about putting up a camera,” the sheriff said.
Deputy Dean left the sheriff’s office and dug into one of the file cabinet drawer’s. She knows that there have been reports of sightings for several years since she has lived there.
At the coffee shop, Joann texted her aunt Cathy and asked if Linda was doing okay. She also told her that her and Marcy are going to go to the mall. Cathy texted Joann back and told her about Linda’s stomach pain episode, but then reassured her that Linda is doing okay now. Even though Joann is concerned about her cousin, she knows that there isn’t anything that she can do for her. Cathy told Joann to just keep her posted as to where her and Marcy are throughout the day.
Linda was watching television again and anxiously waiting for lunch time. When Cathy was done texting Joann, she asked Linda if it was alright if she goes to the cafeteria to get something to eat.
Linda smiled at her mom, “sure, if you bring me something back.”
“What would you want if I do?”
“I don’t care, anything edible,” Linda said.
Cathy left the room and headed to the elevator. When she found the cafeteria, she saw that they had sloppy joes. Linda loves sloppy joes, so Cathy picked that meal for her. For herself, Cathy told the lady that she would like the chicken Cesar salad and a Pepsi, and to please make it all to go. After Cathy paid for the food, the lady bagged the meals up for her for easy carrying. When Cathy got back to Linda’s room, Linda was already munching on some chips and a tuna-fish sandwich.
“Oh, they gave you tuna-fish huh? Well, I got you one of your favorites if you are still hungry after that,” Cathy smiled.
“What is it?” Linda asked.
Cathy told Linda what it was as she pulled it out of the bag, and Linda’s eyes widened. Cathy set the container with the sloppy joes in it on the table next to Linda’s juice. Then she sat down on the chair next to the bed with her Cesar salad. Linda gobbled down the tuna-fish sandwich so that she could eat the saucy smelling sloppy joes.
“Slow down Linda, we don’t want you to get sick,” Cathy said sternly.
“I’m okay… For hospital food this tastes pretty good,” Linda bit into the sloppy joe.
Joann and Marcy were at the mall now browsing the Hot Topic store. She picked up a t-shirt that she thought Linda would like and looked at it. It was white and had a black cat on it with large green eyes. Marcy was looking at the other end of the rack and pointed out a grey alien head t-shirt.
“You should get this one for her,” Marcy giggled.
Joann looked at what Marcy was talking about and shook her head, “no, this experience might not have been a nice one for her. Maybe in time we can all laugh about it.”
“Yeah, you’re right, I’m sorry,” Marcy said.
Joann smiled at Marcy and then continued to browse the store. There was plenty to look at there. after all, it has been months since she had done any shopping.
