While Cathy waited for Linda to come back from having an MRI done, she called Joann. She told Joann that Linda collapsed and that they are at the hospital. Joann told her aunt Cathy that she will finish up with her friend Marcy and then drive right over. Cathy told her to take her time because she doesn’t think that they will be leaving anytime soon. Joann understood but said that she would be there soon anyways.
“Marcy, I’m sorry but I have to leave. My aunt Cathy and Linda are at the hospital again,” Joann said.
“Is Linda going to be alright?” Marcy asked.
“I don’t know. They are doing an MRI I guess. I’ll call you later,” Joann grabbed her purse.
Joann left the coffee shop and drove to the hospital. Jeff noticed how quickly Joann left and asked Marcy what was wrong. She told him about Linda being at the hospital again, and thoughts of the worst rushed into Jeff’s mind. Even though he cared for Linda, he couldn’t leave because he was the only one working at the shop right now.
After Joann pulled into the hospital parking lot, she called her aunt. Cathy told Joann that they were still in the ER and to ask if she could come in by them. Linda was rolled back into the ER room where Cathy was waiting but she hadn’t awakened yet. A nurse in the waiting room walked Joann back to the room where her aunt and cousin are. Another nurse was hooking up an IV and a monitor to Linda as Joann walked in.
Joann walked up and hugged her aunt, “what happened to her?”
“Well after she woke up on the sofa, she went to the bathroom. She was gone longer than I thought she would be so I checked on her. I found her unconscious on the floor in her bedroom. The doctor said that she saw some blood in her ear this time and so she just got back from having an MRI,” Cathy explained.
Joann sat down in the extra chair that was there and looked at her cousin Linda lying completely still on the bed. Cathy stood by the bedside and held Linda’s hand and talked to her. The worry of not knowing what is wrong with Linda is exhausting to both of them. They were happy to have Linda back but did not expect her health to be affected this way.
About a half hour went by and Dr. Sarah John’s walked into the room. She looked at Linda and checked her eyes. Dr. John’s told Cathy that the results haven’t come back yet from the MRI, but she wants to have more blood drawn for testing. Cathy asked Dr. John’s if the aliens that abducted her could have done something to her. Dr. John’s glanced out into the hall and closed the door.
“I understand that you believe that aliens abducted your daughter, but you can’t say stuff like that too loudly. People around here might think that you’re crazy,” Dr. John’s looked at Cathy.
“But it’s true,” Joann said.
“All I can tell you is that we will do everything that we can to find out what is wrong with Linda,” Dr. John’s said.
“We understand,” Cathy looked at the doctor.
Joann looked at her aunt Cathy and hesitantly agreed. Dr. John’s said that she will be leaving the hospital for a few hours and that Dr. Green will be back during that time. A private room upstairs will be available soon and Linda will be moved to it then. Cathy thanked Dr. John’s for being so understanding. Dr. John’s nodded her head, reopened the room door, and left. Meanwhile, Linda is still unconscious but has occasional eye movements.
Nurse Jackson came in and took three vials of blood from Linda’s arm to get tested. She asked Cathy if she could get anything for her or Joann. Joann asked her where she could get some coffee. Nurse Jackson told her that there is a Starbucks down the main hall and in the cafeteria. Joann thanked her and asked her aunt if she would like something from Starbucks. Cathy told her just a regular coffee with cream will be good.
Joann left the room and Cathy picked up Linda’s hand again and told her to wake up. Linda looked slightly pale and just laid there quietly as if she was in a deep sleep. Thankfully she was breathing on her own and didn’t need to be on a ventilator. While Cathy was standing there, she overheard someone in the hall whisper, that’s where the alien girl is. After hearing that, Cathy realized how crazy that sounds even though part of it is true.
