Candy laid on the bed and watched Joe while he redressed. He suggested that she get something to eat at the restaurant next door and that he will see her later.
“Just ask for Alejandro and tell him who you are. He’s the owner and he said that he would take care of the bill for you.”
“I can’t let him do that.”
“He will be insulted if you don’t,” Joe said and kissed Candy on the cheek.
“Okay, I’ll see you later sweetheart,” Candy smiled.
Joe checked himself in the mirror, blew a kiss to Candy and left the suite. Candy rolled over onto her back and just soaked up the moment. She felt like she was in paradise and visiting a fancy resort. Could this place really be a part of my future, she thought as she glanced around the room.
“It could be worse,” Candy smiled and then got up.
Candy decided to take a shower and was surprised at how large the terra cotta colored shower stall was. This is almost as big as my bathroom at home, she thought. Once the water warmed, she stood under the gentle rain shower head.
“Oh, this is nice.”
By the time Candy was out of the shower, it was just about eight o’clock and she knew that if she was going to eat some dinner, she’d better do it now. She pulled out of her suitcase a long flowery blue skirt and a white tank top. This should be nice enough for the restaurant, she thought. After she fixed her hair, she walked into the living room and over to the balcony door. Candy was curious of the view they had from their suite. She unlocked the door and slid it open. The only thing she heard was what she believed to be the sound of the waves in the ocean.
“Wow, it is dark out there,” Candy looked toward the water.
She then looked down over the balcony and saw the large pool and patio. The lights around the patio where a little dim but she did see a young couple having a intimate moment together. After a brief glance, Candy went back inside and closed and locked the door. She figured the view would be prettier during the day. Candy then left the suite and headed down to the lobby. When she got off the elevator and walked into the lobby, she saw two of the people that Joe had spoke to earlier. She smiled at them as she walked toward the hotel door.
The men said something in Spanish but she didn’t understand them. They then whispered something to each other and laughed. Candy felt a little uneasy as she left the hotel. She made sure that they weren’t following her as she walked across the parking lot. I’m probably just being paranoid, she thought. Once she got to the restaurant and saw more people, she felt better.
“Welcome to Alejandro’s,” Gina the hostess said.
“Hi, I’m Candy Davis. My boyfriend Joe owns the hotel next door,” Candy smiled.
“Ah Si, any friend of Joe’s is a friend of ours. Please come this way,” Gina grabbed a menu and guided Candy to a table.
The restaurant was full of color with the many murals on the walls, crafted blankets, and beautiful vases and planters everywhere.
“It sure is a pretty place,” Candy said.
“Gracias, my brother takes good care of it. Is this table okay?” Gina looked at Candy.
“Yes, thank you.”
The atmosphere in Alejandro’s was pleasantly quiet and calming. There were candles on the tables and soft instrumental music playing in the background.
