Candy finished her dinner and thanked Alejandro again for the meal. Before she left the restaurant, she asked him if there was anything in the area to do at this time of night. Alejandro told her about a beach party that some locals usually have on Friday nights. He said that it was south of them maybe a mile or two.
“You can get there by the beach. Just go out to the back of the parking lot and look for a sign that says beach,” Alejandro said.
“Okay, thank you,” Candy smiled and waved.
Candy exited the restaurant and walked into the parking lot. She saw the hotel and looked toward the back of the parking lot. A dim light shined over a walkway so Candy walked closer to it. There she saw the small sign that read beach right next to the walkway.
“It’s not very noticeable. I guess they don’t want very many people coming through here.”
Candy walked up the dimly lit ramp and once again heard the ocean. It was a very peaceful sound which drew her in. As she got to the end of the boardwalk she saw the start of the beach. She took her Hoka slides off her feet and held them in her hands. Carefully she stepped down the few steps and onto the warm dry sand. This feels nice, she thought. Candy’s intension wasn’t to find the party, but to just kill some time and see what was so special about the ocean.
Even though it was very dark out on the beach, Candy could see the patio lights at the hotel. She figured that she would enjoy the peace and tranquility of the ocean, and then enter the hotel through the patio. After all, isn’t life at the beach supposed to be enjoyed any time of the day or night?
Candy found a row of empty beach lounge chairs and decided to sit down for a while. She felt the warm breeze as it now hit her directly in the face. It wasn’t too windy but it was enough to keep any flying bugs away.
“This is so relaxing. If I would have realized how much, I would have come here years ago,” Candy looked up into the starlit sky.
Not a single person was on the beach either which she thought was odd. But Joe did mention earlier that some seasons are slower than other’s. Candy just enjoyed the moment but also thought about her future. Is this the kind of life I want? It is peaceful. Do I want easy access to the beach like this or will it be to distracting for me and my career, she thought.
Candy laid her head back against the chair and closed her eyes. She listened to the sound of the waves and the occasional squawk from a seagull flying over. After studying so much in college, this relaxing weekend was much needed by her. Candy was so relaxed now that she started to drift off to sleep. The beach was quiet, her phone was quiet, and now her brain was quiet.
The peace and quiet only lasted so long though. Candy suddenly felt a hand cover her mouth and another push down on her chest.
