As Candy reached the back patio door of the hotel, she was short of breath and crying.
“Help me,” Candy said as she opened the patio door, “someone out there just tried to kidnap me.”
The lounge worker Ben, ran over to Candy and helped her to a chair.
“What happened?” Ben asked.
Candy told him that she was attacked while enjoying the night air. She also informed him that the man is probably still out there with a knife in his stomach.
“Are you hurt? Do you need an ambulance?” Ben asked.
“No, I’m just scared. I want my boyfriend though,” she said.
Ben got on the lounge phone and called the hotel security office. He was instructed to always call security before anyone else.
“Yes, security, I have a young lady here who said she was attacked out on the beach behind the hotel. She said the man is probably still out there because she stabbed him,” Ben said.
The security officer told Ben that he will be there in a few minutes to talk to her. Ben hung up the phone and told Candy that security will be there in a minute.
“Would you like some water or something?” Ben asked her.
“I just want to talk to Joe,” Candy cried.
“Joe?”
“Yes, my boyfriend, the owner of this hotel,” Candy sniffled.
“Oh, Mr. Grande'? Let me see if I can page him,” Ben said and walked back to the phone.
Ben was just about to page Joe when the security officer walked up to him. Ben hung up the phone and walked the officer over to Candy.
“I never did get your name Miss,” Ben said to her.
“It’s Candy and Joe Grande' is my boyfriend. Where is he?” Candy started to cry again.
The security officer spoke up and asked Candy a couple of questions about the man she claims she stabbed. She told him that she couldn’t see who he was because of the mask, but she did remind him that the man might be out on the beach dying. The officer told Ben to keep Candy there in the lounge while he goes out to check.
“Yes, okay,” Ben said and got Candy a couple of napkins to wipe her tears plus a bottle of water to drink.
While Candy wiped her face and tried to compose herself, the officer walked outside onto the patio. He shined his flashlight around the area and then toward the beach. As he walked to the gate which led to the beach, he heard a man’s moan.
“Help me.”
The officer shined his light over the gate and to the right. He saw the dark figure of a man half sitting and half laying on the sand. He opened the gate and hurried over to him. He saw the white handle of the knife sticking out just above the man’s stomach.
