Dukee stood up and looked at Auntie. She acknowledged him and he jumped down to the floor. She could tell that he wanted something so she got up from the reclining sofa. Dukee meowed at her as she looked and followed him. Mia watched as they left the front living room and then she hopped down. She walked up to Mom while she was sitting in her chair. She stretched her paws up and onto the edge of Mom’s chair.
Mom stopped Mia before she could scratch on the chair. Mia jumped to the side and scrambled quickly down the hall and into her bedroom. She turned around and ran as fast as she could back into the front living room. She put her brakes on and slid into the front door. Darn furry feet, she thought. Her straw handle was sitting about a foot away from her so she picked it up with her nails on her front foot and tossed it into the air.
She jumped and pounced at the handle as it landed. Then she took off fast again and ran into the family room. She stopped and slid into the small ball that was by the chaise lounge chair. She hit the ball and it rolled right past Dukee as he sat by the doorway of the family room. He had just walked out of his bedroom after eating some treats that Auntie gave him. He looked at Mia as she giggled. She walked over to Dukee and sat down.
“I thought you were in your room,” Mia said.
“I was, but I heard you running around like a goofball,” Dukee said.
“I’m not a goofball,” Mia said.
“Oh yeah, you’re a fluffball,” Dukee trotted away.
“Well, I’m going to get you,” Mia said.
Dukee took off running through the kitchen and Mia followed. He ran through the dining area, back down the hallway, into the family room, and up onto the chaise lounge chair. Mia was right behind him until she stopped on the floor by the chaise lounge chair.
“I’m faster than you,” Dukee tried to catch his breath.
“No your not,” Mia walked over to the wingback chair and climbed up it.
“Yes I am,” Dukee sat down on the chaise.
“You just caught me off guard… I could have easily past you up if I wanted to,” Mia looked at him.
“I will say that you are fast for a little girl,” Dukee licked the top of his front paw.
“Thank you,” Mia giggled.
The two of them sat there and groomed their fur for a few minutes until Mom came walking through. Mia hopped down off the chair to follow her. As she walked past the chaise lounge chair Mia looked up and giggled at Dukee. Dukee just looked at her as she went by.
Auntie walked down the hallway and into her bedroom. Dukee hopped down off the chaise and trotted in by her. You never know what kind of activity is going to happen in a house with two cats.
