Around 5:30 in the morning, Dukee was awake and decided to roam the house. He first quietly walked over to Princess Mia’s bedroom and peeked in around the mostly closed door. Even though it was dark, there was enough moonlight shining through the window to see. Mia was on her bed sound asleep. At least that’s what Dukee thought anyways.
He turned around and nonchalantly walked down the hall and into the front living room. Dukee jumped up onto the bench seat that was by one of the front windows. Because the moon was so bright, he was able to see another cat walking down the street. I wonder who he is? Dukee thought. He meowed and then was startled by a swat at his tail.
“Hey, what are you doing?” Dukee turned his head to look behind him.
“Checking up on you,” Mia said.
“I thought you were sleeping.” Dukee turned his body to face Mia.
“You thought wrong orange boy, I saw you look into my room.” Mia gracefully licked her arm.
“What are you doing up so early?” She asked him.
“I don’t know, I just am. There’s still more for me to explore here.” Dukee explained.
“I can understand that, but stay out of my room.” Mia glared at him.
“I will be having my breakfast soon. I just have to make sure Mom gets up to make it.” Mia turned to walk through the kitchen.
Dukee hopped down after her, and she stopped quickly in her track.
“Why are you following me?” Mia asked.
“Well, I’m not following you. You just happen to be going the same way that I want to go.” Dukee scurried past her.
“Hey, you better mind your manners mister!” Mia continued to walk through the kitchen.
Dukee trotted into his room and Auntie was still sleeping. He took a few nibbles of his food and decided to hop back into bed. I don’t want to be in Princess Mia’s way when she gets her royal breakfast anyway, he thought. Besides, I’ve sniffed what was left of it before, and yuck. Dukee cuddled up next to Auntie.
