Mom walked out of her bedroom and Mia zoomed right past her. With her furry feet going as fast as they could she ran to the front of the house. She stopped and slid about a foot and then laid down on her side. She watched as Mom walked into the front living room. Mia stretched her arm out and grabbed the furry pink mouse. As she rolled around and held the mouse close to her face, she would clunk her head on the floor.
Mom would show concern because she would clunk her head so loudly. But Mia would just roll around and be silly. All of a sudden, Mia hopped up as if something scared her, but she ran as fast as she could down the hallway, through the family room, and into her bedroom. In her bedroom, she jumped up onto the bed and batted one of her toys off. She jumped down after the toy and picked it up with her mouth.
She trotted out of the bedroom doorway, through the family room, and into the front living room. She dropped her toy and batted it about a foot away. She pounced at it and hit it again. Mia loved to play and run around. She often had so much energy that she would jump from chair to sofa and chair again. She bounced around and climbed like a little monkey sometimes. But unlike Dukee, she hasn’t jumped up onto the kitchen counters yet. Which was good.
Mia picked up her toy with her mouth and tossed it into the air. When it landed, she hit it across the floor. The toy rolled down the hall and she just looked at it. She turned around, reached up and touched Mom’s arm, and walked over to her litter cabinet. She walked inside and used her litter box. Then she stepped out and took off down the hallway.
Dukee was now sitting outside the sliding glass door waiting to come in. She walked over to the door, giggled, and walked into her bedroom. Auntie walked out of her bedroom to check on Dukee. She saw that he was there at the door and let him in. Dukee walked inside and past the wingback chair and chaise lounge chair. Auntie met him as she walked around the sofa.
She picked up the long colorful string that they played together with and Dukee pounced at it. She swished the one end across the floor and Dukee would grab it with his paw. He held onto the string and plopped down on his side. Mia walked out of her bedroom, laid down by the chaise lounge chair, and watched. Auntie would pull the string away from Dukee and dangle it in front of his face. He would swipe at it and usually grab ahold of it.
Auntie tossed the other end toward Mia and it would land in front of her. She sniffed it, got up, and carefully snuck around the chaise and wingback chair. She trotted behind the sofa, and through the kitchen, not letting Dukee see her. But she has to be sneakier than that because he saw her. Dukee got up quickly and ran to the other kitchen doorway.
“Aha! I caught you!” Dukee stopped.
Mia was caught this time as she stopped quickly.
“Hey, you scared me,” she said.
Dukee giggled and stepped back so that she could walk past. Mia trotted into the front living room and looked back to see if he was following her. But Dukee walked back to where Auntie was. She still had the one end of the string and was waiting for him. Mia decided to eat some of her food so she hopped up onto the table where it was. Dukee laid back down not far from Auntie’s feet and reached for the string.
