Mia was in her bedroom with Mom and Auntie was watching television in her bedroom. Dukee hopped down off the stool by the window and walked out into the family room. He looked around and saw his little mouse lying there on the floor. He batted at it with his paw. He jumped up and batted at it again shooting it across the floor. He meowed loudly and batted at the mouse again.
With some pent-up energy, he ran to the front living room and jumped up onto the leather sofa. He looked around and took off from the sofa and ran back into the family room. Dukee jumped up onto the chaise lounge chair, made a U-turn, and hopped back down. He ran and jumped up onto the bar counter, jumped up on top of the cabinet, and ran onto the top of the wall. He meowed loudly as he ran to the ledge above the main walkway.
Auntie got up and walked out into the family room. She knew exactly what he was doing. In a calm voice, she told him to slow down. Auntie and Mom don’t want him to fall from there. They tried blocking off the ways to get up there but Dukee still managed to climb up there. So now they leave it open so he can get down with no problems. He loves to climb high, they just wished he didn’t run up there after doing it.
Dukee laid down on the ledge above the main walkway. That’s one of his favorite spots right now. Dukee watched Auntie as she looked out the window by the front door. She turned around, looked up at him, and told him to be careful. Auntie went back into her room while Dukee stayed lying on the ledge.
Mia just got up from a short nap. She bent and stretched her front legs forward. She jumped up on the bed by Mom to see what she was doing. Mom gave Mia a couple of head scratches and then Mia jumped down. She walked out of her bedroom and then trotted down the hallway. She didn’t notice Dukee up on the ledge as she entered the front living room.
Mia jumped up onto the table where her food and water dishes are and nibbled on some food. When she was done, she turned around and walked over to the window sill. She looked outside to see if anyone was out there. It seemed pretty quiet so she hopped down and picked up her blue plastic ring with her teeth. She carried it down the hall and into the family room. She dropped it and tapped it with her front left paw.
The ring lay still until Mia swiped at it. The plastic ring slid across the floor toward her bedroom door. She trotted over to it and batted at it. It slid up against the wall so she left it there and walked into her bedroom. Mia jumped up onto the window sill in her bedroom and saw a cardinal fly down and land on the fence. Mia watched as the red male cardinal flew over the female one. I wonder if that’s Carrie and her husband, Mia thought.
The birds didn’t show any indication of knowing Mia, so she just watched them. A couple of other birds flew in and out of the trees too. I wonder why birds fly all around like that, Mia thought. As Mia watched out the window, she saw the neighbor’s large German Shepard walking around in his yard. He or she is a pretty black dog with some brown on it. I would not want to come face to face with that dog, Mia thought. She watched it as it just roamed the yard.
Dukee got up from the ledge and decided to hop down. He was ready for something to eat and to see what Auntie was doing. He hopped down onto the cabinet and then down onto the counter. He walked to the edge and hopped down onto the floor. Dukee walked into his room, looked at Auntie, and then walked to his bowl and nibbled on his food.
When Dukee was done eating he arched his back to stretch, and then jumped up onto the bed. He walked in between Aunties legs, so Auntie opened them wider and Dukee curled up right there by her. She pet his head and scratched the side of his neck for him as he laid his head down. Dukee was ready for a nap. Mia just hung out on the window sill and watched all the activity outside. It was now a calm and quiet house.

Our little Marie races through the house and runs up the cat tower, races across the wall unit and down the other cat tower. She will have those towers just a-rockin' and you'd think they would tip over.
