After a good night's rest, Dukee was up and roaming the house early. The sun had just started to rise and the birds were happily chirping. Dukee went into the front living room and hopped up onto the kitty tower. He stretched up and scratched on the post, then climbed up to the top.
He took a few minutes to lick his paw and wipe his ear. He did it again until he saw a squirrel. Dukee sat still and watched the squirrel as it sat on the ground eating a nut.
“I could catch you squirrel if I was outside,” Dukee said.
“You said that before and you didn’t.” Mia walked in and giggled.
“Oh be quiet.” Dukee turned and looked at her.
“I heard you snoring last night.” Mia giggled.
“Did you come into my room?” Dukee asked.
“No, not all the way… You were snoring so loud that I could hear you in the family room.” Mia fluffed her tail.
“That was probably Auntie because she snores sometimes.” Dukee looked back at the squirrel.
“Well anyway, I had a crazy dream last night. I was taken to a really big house by someone and they had 3 dogs. I was so scared.” Mia jumped up onto the table by her dishes.
“So what happened?” Dukee looked at her.
“I was put in this room with a little human, and she grabbed me and pulled my hair.” Mia drank some water.
“Wow, that sounds awful. Were you able to get away?” Dukee hopped down onto the blanket on top of the litter box cabinet.
“I did, I wiggled and hissed so she dropped me. And then all of a sudden, you were there at the window.” Mia walked onto the kitty tower.
“I was there?” Dukee laid down.
“Yes, I was surprised and happy to see you. Somehow you managed to get the window open so I could climb out. But that little human started to scream.” Mia climbed up into the tunnel part of the tower.
“So what did we do? Dukee asked.
“Well we climbed down something that was stuck to the house, and we ran as fast as we could. It was close though because the dogs ran after us.” Mia licked the bottom of her paw.
“Wow, that’s scary… So then what?” Dukee adjusted his leg.
“Well, we lost the dogs and we found our street, and then I woke up,” Mia said.
“That was a crazy dream.” Dukee looked out the window.
“I have had some scary ones but not like that. That one seems too real to me.” Dukee said.
“Yeah same here… I wonder if it means anything?” Mia wondered.
“I doubt it. Maybe you heard something on the TV.” Dukee suggested.
“Yeah, maybe.” Mia looked out the window.
