Mom walked out of her bedroom and Mia trotted behind her. Mia and Mom walked down the hallway and into the front living room. Mia jumped up onto her kitty tower while Mom sat down in her recliner. Outside, a couple of birds hopped from the wire to the tree and Mia watched them. She was hoping to see one of her new friends outside. Mia crawled inside the cube part of the kitty tower and laid down. She watched out the window though for anyone who might come to visit.
Dukee was sleeping on the bed next to Auntie until she got up to use the bathroom. Dukee stood up, bent forward and stretched his paws out in front of him. When he was done stretching, he hopped down off the bed and walked into the family room. He heard the television in the front living room so he walked that way. Mia was still lying in the cube licking the tops of her paws.
Dukee walked up to the side table and jumped up. Mia looked at him as he walked to the end and sat down. He motioned with his paw outside and Mia shook her head no. She knew that he was asking if any of there friends came to visit. Mia continued to groom herself and Dukee watched out the window.
With all the scary noises of the fireworks the last couple of nights, Mia and Dukee were happy that it was quiet. They didn’t get as scared as some animals but some of the loud booms bothered them. People don’t realize how scary that sound is to animals and even veterans who survived the wars.
Mia crawled out of the cube and walked over to her water bowl. Dukee laid down on the end of the table and still watched out the window. When Mia was done drinking she hopped down and walked over to Mom. Mia rubbed her head on Mom’s foot and then jumped up by her. She laid down on the arm of the chair and looked out the window. Mom gave Mia a few pets and then went back to her laptop.
