All of a sudden Dukee turned around on the table, jumped to the floor, and ran into the family room. Mia sat up quickly and looked in that direction, as Dukee ran back into the front living room. He jumped onto the leather sofa and spun around. Mia hopped down to the floor from the kitty tower, unsure what Dukee was doing. Dukee crouched down like he was hiding from something.
Mia looked up at him, “what are you doing?”
“I’m on an important mission and I can’t be found,” Dukee peeked over the arm of the sofa.
“What is your mission?” Mia whispered.
“There has been a change of food in my food dish and I have to find out why,” Dukee whispered.
“Why don’t you just ask your Auntie,” Mia giggled.
“It’s not that simple… She might not be aware of it,” Dukee looked around.
Mia couldn’t help but laugh at Dukee’s silliness and the story that he came up with. But she played along.
“Do you want to join my mission?” Dukee looked down at Mia.
“Okay, what do you want me to do?” Mia asked.
“I need you to stand guard while I check the bag,” Dukee said.
“But isn’t Auntie in your room already?” Mia asked.
“That does cause a problem then doesn’t it?” Dukee sat up.
Mia giggled some more and Dukee looked down at her on the floor.
“That was pretty good, don’t you think?” Dukee asked.
“Pretty good at what?” Mia giggled.
“Well, I thought it was a good start to being a detective,” Dukee said.
“It was pretty silly if you ask me… For one, you don’t go running around like a maniac first,” Mia said.
“Well, I had a burst of energy I had to release… You know how that is,” Dukee looked at Mia.
“Yes I do, that’s true… But to be a detective, you have to be calm and go unnoticed,” Mia stood up.
Mia trotted around the side and back of the sofa without a sound and showed up in front of it. Dukee listened and looked toward the back of the sofa when Mia cleared her throat.
“I’m right here,” She looked up at him.
Dukee was startled, “You are pretty good at that, sneaking around all the time,”
“Yep, I know,” Mia held her head high, “I’m very light on my feet, and I’m known as the shadow.”
This time Dukee giggled, “don’t get too big of a head.”
Mia strutted slowly into the hallway with her head held high, “I’m going to my room now,” She giggled.
Dukee jumped off the sofa quick to chase her and she went running into her bedroom. He stopped in the family room by the chaise chair, and Mia peeked her head out through the doorway and giggled.
