It was around 8 am and Dukee and Mia were the only ones out of their rooms. Mia was in the front living room, on her kitty tower watching for lizards. Dukee walked down the hallway and up to the narrow window by the front door and looked out. Mia heard Dukee walk in because of the clicking that sometimes a long toenail makes on the floor. Mia quietly hopped down onto the floor and crept up onto the shelf under the side table. The one end of the side table meets up by that window where Dukee is looking out. Just as Mia crept up and was about to scare Dukee he turned his head and looked right at her.
“I heard you coming,” Dukee said.
“You did?” Mia sat down and looked at him.
“Yep, I heard you when you jumped down," Dukee looked back out the window.
“Oh, and I thought I was being quiet too,” Mia licked her front right leg.
Mia turned around and walked off the other end of the side table shelf, and jumped back up onto her kitty tower. She squeezed in between the cube and the post that her tunnel sits on and looked out the window. Dukee jumped up onto the top of the side table and walked to the end.
“I noticed that Auntie hasn’t written our story for a while, how come?” Mia asked.
“She hasn’t been feeling well,” Dukee sat down and looked out the window.
“What’s wrong with her, she seems fine,” Mia looked at Dukee.
“I don’t know, she only told me that she hasn’t been feeling well,” Dukee looked at Mia.
“Oh, well, I hope that she feels better soon. I know that she gave me my breakfast and some attention while Mom was gone, which was nice,” Mia said.
“Yeah, I was surprised that your mom was gone that long, but she seemed like she had a nice time,” Dukee scratched his neck with his back foot.
“Yes, I think that she did, but I’m happy that she’s home now,” Mia watched as a lizard crawled onto the window screen.
“I think that I scared that lizard yesterday when I ran at the window,” Dukee said.
“Well, you couldn’t have scared it that much because he keeps coming back,” Mia giggled.
“Yeah, I don’t know what’s going on with that one. I think that he might be spying on us for some reason,” Dukee stared at the lizard.
“So has Auntie written any of her other stories lately?” Mia asked.
“No, I guess it’s hard to focus on writing when you don’t feel well,” Dukee looked at Mia.
“Yes, that makes sense,” Mia watched the lizard as it moved higher up the window.
“Auntie is trying to get motivated again because she knows that she has stories hanging… And she doesn’t want to disappoint her readers,” Dukee licked his paw.
“Well, I haven’t known her as long as you have but I can see that she is a good human,” Mia looked at Dukee.
“Yes, she is… I’m happy that she rescued me a long time ago,” Dukee said.
Mia kept an eye on the lizard while Dukee watched the birds that landed on the tree. The sun was shining bright and the sky was clear. It was a beautiful start to the day.

I agree with Mia, Dukee's mom is a great human !!!!
Sending healing prayers and hugs. Yesterday I was going to ask you if everybody was okay there but decided you were probably busy because of Robin's recent bithday. Praying you get to feeling better soon and that everybody else stays healthy and that includes Dukee and Mia. On the funny side I had got some low carb tortillas Friday so Paula could have a couple of breakfast burritos. I put them up on top of the toaster out of the way in the kitchen. Callie and Sophie both like chewing on plastic bags. This morning I got the tortillas and found the corners of both packages had been chewed up. Sophie apparently was trying to cook. I found her sitting in the kitchen sink the other day on top of the dishes that were waiting to go into the dishwasher. She didn't bother loading the dishwasher though.
