After Mia finished her breakfast, she sat and licked her paws, and wiped her ears one by one. Dukee hopped down onto the floor and batted at a toy before he walked into the hallway.
“Where are you going?” Mia asked.
“I’m going to see what Auntie is doing,” Dukee said.
So Mia decided to watch the birds that were hopping around in the tree outside. The cute little birds looked a lot like finches, but I’m not a bird expert. She focused on their every move until Mom walked into the room.
Mia hopped down off her kitty tower and rushed over to Mom. She rubbed up against Mom's leg as she put on her shoes. Uh oh, Mom is going somewhere, Mia thought.
Mom told Mia that she would be back in a little while. She grabbed her cane and her purse and went out the door. Mia stared out the window by the door for about a minute when Dukee walked up.
“What’s going on"?” Dukee asked.
“Mom is going somewhere,” Mia watched as she pulled away.
“I thought you liked it when she left for a while?” Dukee asked.
“Not today,” Mia grumbled.
“Well, it’s okay because my Auntie is still here,” He said.
“So,” Mia turned.
“Well, haven’t you noticed that your maid is only gone long when Auntie is with her?” Dukee backed up.
“Hmm, you have a point there,” Mia walked toward the hall.
“So do you want to chase me?” Dukee asked.
“No, not right now… I’m going to my room to play,” Mia trotted to her bedroom.
“Oh… okay,” Dukee went back to his bedroom.
Mia picked up her Lamb-chop with her mouth and jumped up onto the bed. She tossed her into the air and pounced on it when it landed. She did it again and again until the last toss it flew to the floor. Mia was having so much fun that instead of jumping to the floor to get it, she jumped at the wall first and bounced down to the floor.
For Auntie and Dukee whose room is on the other side of that wall, it was a loud thud. So they both looked at the wall for a second and knew right away what was going on.
Mia loved running and jumping on everything and bouncing off everything like the wall, the bed, the chair… you name it if it’s in the way she will jump and bounce off it.
She left her Lamb-chop lay and moved onto a plastic tubular thing that she batted around on the floor. After a few minutes of that, she jumped up onto the window sill and saw a squirrel. Mia watched the squirrel for only a minute, hopped onto the bed, and laid down. I got my exercise for today, Mia thought as she put her head down.
