After all the running around that Dukee and Mia did, they were both ready for a nap. Mia hopped down off the chair and trotted toward her bedroom.
“See ya later,” Mia said.
“Yep, see ya later,” Dukee hopped down off the sofa and walked into his bedroom.
Dukee ate a few piece’s of his food and then jumped up onto his bed. He felt so tired that he fell asleep within five minutes.
But as he laid there his ears twitched back and forth because he heard different noises. Some seem to be in the house, while others were outside. A strange sound he thought he heard sounded like a horn from a tug boat. Why would a sound like that be around here, Dukee thought. He doesn’t live that close to the ocean.
Dukee stretched out his paws and flared his toes as he drifted off into a deeper sleep. If you sat there and watched him, all four of his feet started to move as if he was walking are running… What could he be dreaming of?
Meanwhile, Mia was in her room grooming herself. A few licks down one arm, and then a few licks down the other. I don’t think that I could get any prettier, Mia thought. She then laid her head down on her one paw and drifted off to sleep.
About an hour passed and Dukee suddenly popped his head up and looked around. Oh, that was quite a dream, he thought, as he stood up and stretched his back leg out. Dukee hopped down off the bed, bent forward and arched his back to stretch it out. He walked out into the family room and over to Mia’s bedroom door.
“Hey, are you awake?” Dukee whispered.
Mia lifted her head and looked toward the door, “I am now.”
“I have to tell you about this dream I had,” Dukee walked in her room.
“Can’t you tell me later, I’m trying to sleep right now,” She dropped her head back down and put her paw over her eyes.
Dukee jumped up onto her bed, “no, I have to tell you right now.”
“Excuse me, you are on my bed,” Mia growled.
“I know, I’m sorry but I want to tell you,” Dukee stared at her.
“Okay, go ahead,” Mia yawned.
“Well, I was out in the middle of the ocean i think trying to swim, when this strange looking boat-like thing came up to me. A man with a neat looking hat bent over the side and scooped me up. He put a towel on me and warmed me up… I was so happy to be out of the water.
“It’s too bad that you didn’t drown,” Mia mumbled.
“What?” Dukee asked.
“Oh, I just said that you are lucky that you didn’t drown,” Mia yawned again.
“Yeah I know… So anyway, this man was the captain of this boat and he helped move other boats with his boat. He kept me with him and we did this everyday, it was so cool,” Dukee paused for a moment.
“That’s it? You woke me for that?” Mia said.
“No, there’s more… I thought his boat was big but wow, we helped some really big ones move out of places that they couldn’t move around in very well. We ate fish every night, and he made me a nice comfy place to sleep, and we just had so much fun together… It was quite a dream,” Dukee stared into the air.
“So would you give up the life you have now for that one?” Mia asked.
Dukee looked at Mia and thought for only a second, “No, I love Auntie too much.”
