Mom and Auntie said goodnight and went into their bedrooms. Mia was at the front living room window watching a frog. Dukee followed Auntie into their bedroom and jumped up onto the desk. Treats please, Dukee thought as he looked at Auntie. Auntie grabbed the bag of temptation treats and held a few in her fingers above him. Dukee sat up happily, and then Auntie put them in the bowl that was there.
Mia finally realized that her mom left the room. She hopped down off the litter box cabinet, ran down the hall, and into the family room. Mia stopped at her bedroom door and then walked in. Mom was taking her medication when Mia jumped up onto the bed. Mia also gets a couple of treats before bed so she sits and tries to wait patiently. When Mom is done with her medications, she holds out her hand and asks Mia to shake. Excited for her treats, Mia puts her furry paw in her mom’s hand.
Shake, shake, shake Mia says along with her mom. Mom tells her that she is a good girl and puts a few of her favorite treats down in front of her. Mia ate her treats, hopped down off the bed, and ran out the bedroom door. She put on her brakes quickly and slid. Dukee just happened to be lying on the floor in the family room near the hallway. Dukee grinned at Mia as she turned left and then trotted through the kitchen. Mia wanted to get back to watching the frog on the window.
Dukee got up and walked into the front living room to see what she was doing. Mia was sitting on the blanket on top of the litter box cabinet watching the frog. Dukee jumped up onto the side table and walked to the end.
“I see that big green frog is here again,” Dukee said.
“Yeah, and I tried to scare it before by pawing at the window but it only moves when it wants to,” Mia said.
“I think that it knows that we can’t get it,” Dukee looked at the frog.
“Yes, it seems smart that way doesn’t it?” Mia leaned forward and tapped the window with her paw.
“Yep… Besides, what would you do with it anyways if you could reach it?” Dukee looked at Mia.
“Just watch it I suppose. After what you said about some of them being… What is the word again?” Mia looked at Dukee.
“Poisonous. They can make you sick and sometimes die,” Dukee said.
“Yeah, poisonous. I certainly don’t want that,” Mia sat down on the blanket.
Dukee hopped down onto the blanket next to Mia.
“What are you doing?” Mia looked at Dukee and moved to the right.
“Just relax. I want to see if I can scare it. I did it the other night,” Dukee crept closer to the window.
Mia watched as Dukee rushed to the window and touched it with his head. The frog moved slightly to the right but didn’t hop down. Mia looked around Dukee and giggled. Dukee reached out his front paw and tapped where the frog was hanging but it didn’t move again.
“I think that I hear it laughing at you,” Mia giggled.
“Ha ha, very funny,” Dukee stepped backward onto the blanket.
Dukee sat down and watched the frog. Mia walked onto the kitty tower and then onto the table where her dishes are. She nibbled and crunched some of her food and then got a drink of water. When she turned around and crept toward the window sill, the frog pulled itself higher up on the window.
“Hey, look, I made it move,” Mia said.
“Yeah, but you didn’t scare it away though,” Dukee said.
Mia sat down on the window sill and looked up at the frog. Dukee laid down and licked his front paw. The frog pulled itself higher and shot his tongue out and caught a bug.
“Did you see that?” Mia looked at Dukee.
“No, what did it do?” Dukee looked at the frog.
“It caught a bug,” Mia said.
“Oh, is that all,” Dukee went back to licking his other paw.
“Well, it does it so quickly that it surprises me,” Mia looked at Dukee.
“Yes, that’s true that it does move quickly. But it has to if it wants to eat. Speaking of eating, I’m kind of hungry,” Dukee got up from the blanket and hopped down to the floor. “See you later.”
“Yep, see ya,” Mia stepped onto the blanket and laid down.
Dukee walked down the hall and into his bedroom. Auntie was watching television while lying in bed. Dukee walked up to his food dish and munched on some kernels. When he was done eating, he jumped up onto the chest of drawers and laid down. It was a peaceful night to a somewhat busy day for two cats in a house.
