As Dukee walked down the hallway, he saw his stuffed bird toy and picked it up. A loud meow came out of his mouth which always made Mom and Auntie giggle. He walked around with it and meowed a couple more times and then dropped it. This of course interested Mia, so she quietly crept into the hall.
Dukee was facing the cardboard barn, so he wasn’t aware of Mia sneaking up behind him. She stopped by the scratch post that was about five feet away from him in the family room. Before she could scare him, he turned and laid down. Now she was in plain sight of him.
“I see you there… Did you think you were going to scare me?” Dukee asked.
“I know that I was going to scare you if you didn’t turn around,” Mia walked closer.
“Seeing what that truck could do outside was pretty cool, don’t you think?” Dukee asked.
“Yeah it was… remember when those other trucks that were here rolling that black stuff on the road?” Mia said.
“Oh yeah, I forgot about that… There were more men out there too then,” Dukee scratched his ear.
“Mom was worried about that stuff getting on her new car,” Mia did a long lick down her shoulder.
“Yeah… I remember where I used to live, a truck came, and it had a long arm thing on it. But on the end of it was something a man could stand-in. He was cutting branches down off the trees,” Dukee said.
“I’ve never seen that before,” Mia looked at him.
Yeah, they were doing it a little ways away from our screen porch so I was able to watch,” Dukee licked the bottom of his paw.
“It was a little scary sounding though when the big branches hit the ground… But it was cool,” Dukee said.
Mia yawned a couple of times even though she was interested in what Dukee was saying.
“I think I’m going to take a nap,” Mia stood up.
“Yeah, that sounds like a good idea,” Dukee got up.
