Mom and Auntie were in the front living room watching television, and except for the sound coming from the TV, it was quiet in the house. It was quiet until Dukee got one of his favorite toys and meowed loudly with it in his mouth. He carried the toy into the family room meowing as loudly as he could, it seemed. Mia was in her bedroom when she heard Dukee, and walked out. Dukee dropped his toy and meowed one more time. Auntie called out to Dukee and told him that they hear him.
Mia walked into the family room and sat down by the cardboard barn, “can you meow any louder?”
Dukee snickered and looked at Mia, “yes, do you want to hear it?”
“No, you were loud enough. I was napping until I heard you meowing,” Mia yawned.
“Oh, sorry about that… Well, you should be awake at this time of the night anyways,” Dukee walked over to her.
“Who says? I was up early and needed another nap,” Mia licked the fur down her shoulder.
“Well see, you get up too early, and you wake your Mom up to early too,” Dukee sat down.
“Well, when my tummy starts rumbling for my breakfast food, then I get up,” Mia looked at Dukee.
“You can always eat the dry food that’s in your dish until breakfast time. Auntie doesn’t give me my breakfast until it’s light outside,” Dukee licked his right paw.
“Well, the time seems so long in between my breakfasts that it’s hard to wait for it. I like that chicken/tuna gravy and pieces. Yum yum,” Mia licked her mouth just thinking about it.
“Well, I think that you should let your Mom sleep in sometimes,” Dukee said.
“I do, sometimes. But, I know, I could wait a little longer,” Mia tapped the furry mouse that she was sitting by.
Dukee watched Mia as she tapped the mouse and heard it squeak. He suddenly darted toward her to hit the mouse but startled her instead. Mia hissed at Dukee and backed up.
“What’s wrong? I thought that you wanted to play?” Dukee sat back down.
“You scared me though. I wasn’t expecting you to come at me,” Mia stared at Dukee.
Dukee shook his head and turned around to walk away. Mia watched him as he walked toward the hallway to go to the front living room. Mia trotted up behind Dukee which made him hurry and jump up onto the side table. She walked around the leather sofa recliner and hopped up onto the coffee table to get a drink from her water bowl. Dukee walked to the end of the side table and sat down.
He heard Auntie say hi to him so he acknowledged by looking at her. Then, he turned and looked out into the darkness through the window. Mia finished getting a drink and then jumped up onto the top part of the kitty tower. She sat up there and wiped her face with her left paw. All is quiet once again in the house with two cats.
