Auntie left her bedroom and walked out into the front living room. This made Dukee get up and wonder where she was going. He hopped down onto the floor and stretched his back leg out, and then took a bow to stretch his back. Dukee walked out of his bedroom and casually walked down the hall and into the front living room.
Auntie sat down on the reclining sofa and talked to Mom, so Dukee jumped up, like usual, onto the side table. He walked to the one end, sat down, and looked out the window. Mia was in her paper cave sleeping but heard Auntie talking so she peeked out. She saw Dukee sitting on the table so she tried to be quiet while she crept out. Dukee turned his head and saw Mia, she wasn’t quiet enough.
Nonchalantly Mia walked and hopped up onto the table with her food. She turned toward the window and slowly crept toward Dukee.
“You know that I can see you right?” Dukee looked at Mia.
“Shhh, no you can’t, I’m invisible,” Mia said.
Dukee just watched her as she crept closer to the window and stopped.
“Okay, but I can sneak up on you without you knowing it,” Mia whispered.
“I have to admit, you do show up sometimes from out of nowhere,” Dukee said.
“I bet that I could be a good spy,” Mia sat down on the window sill.
“Yeah, sometimes you can be pretty light on your feet, and you are still small,” Dukee looked at Mia.
“I might be small now but I heard Mom say that I could get really big… Maybe bigger than you,” Mia licked her shoulder.
“That’s fine, but keep in mind that if you try to bully me, I will stand up for myself,” Dukee whispered.
“I understand… We are friends” Mia looked at Dukee.
“Do you want to go look out the big glass doors?” Dukee asked.
“Okay, what are we looking for?” Mia asked.
“Well, we can pretend that we are spies, and we are making sure that nobody is in the backyard beyond the fence,” Dukee hopped down onto the floor.
Mia hopped down after Dukee and followed him into the hallway.
“Sounds like fun,” Mia trotted up alongside him.
