Dukee was in his room sleeping peacefully between Auntie’s legs while she typed typed typed on her laptop. This is one of Dukee’s favorite places to sleep.
Only a few minutes went by when he jumped up and looked around. Even Auntie was curious as to what that loud noise was, so she got up too. Dukee cautiously followed Auntie out toward the front living room but he stopped before the kitchen doorway. She continued out to the front living room where she looked out the window by the door.
It was such a loud noise that Dukee didn’t want to go by the windows so he backed up, and jumped up onto the kitchen bar counter. Then carefully jumped from the counter onto the top of the cabinets and up to the ledge at the top of the wall. Still curious, he made his way to the area on top of the pantry closet and stared out the front window.
There they saw a flatbed semi that had roof trusses on it. The driver tried to make the sharp turn out in front of our house and ran into some trouble. Some of the trusses fell off the truck and onto the ground. The driver stood there contemplating and scratched his head.
“Pssst, what’s going on?” Mia walked into the kitchen and looked up at Dukee.
Dukee turned around and looked down into the kitchen. He hopped down onto the refrigerator.
“Some man with a big truck dumped some stuff out there,” Dukee Whispered.
“Oh, okay,” Mia walked past the refrigerator, into the dining area, and hopped up onto the storage bench by the window.
Dukee hopped down from the refrigerator, onto the counter, and down to the floor. He walked over to the bench, jumped up beside Mia, and looked out the window. Auntie turned around, said, that should be interesting, and left the room.
Dukee and Mia sat on the bench and watched the man walk around as he talked on his phone. The semi was parked half on the road and half off with the wood laying in the ditch. Just then Mom pulled in the driveway, got out of the car, glanced at the semi, and walked to the front door. Mia hopped down and ran over to the door as Mom opened it and walked in.
Because Auntie heard the front door open, she came back into the front living. Mom sat down in her chair and talked to Auntie about the truck outside. Mia rubbed up against Mom’s leg a couple of times and then trotted over to her food dish. Dukee hopped down from the bench and jumped up onto the side table by the door and sofa.
Please join me again for more of: Two Cats And A House.
Pennie… I have been enjoying Two Cats And A House. I’ve been observing myself while reading about Dukee and Mia’s activities and observations. What appeals much is an obvious minimalistic approach to drama. I like that my emotions are not being fanned.
Thank you. ♥️
