Dukee walked down the hall to check on Auntie. Mia nibbled on her food and drank some of her water. She saw her plastic spider on the floor and hopped down. She tapped it with her paw and then batted it under her paper cave. Without making too much noise she dug her paw under it to get the spider back out. She pulled the spider out from under the paper cave and picked it up with her mouth.
She carried it past the recliner sofa and dropped it. With one big hit, the spider slid across the floor, and into the hall. She ran after it and pounced on it. She laid on it for a minute, wiggled her hips, and kicked it with her back feet. She turned around and pounced on it again. Then she heard Mom get up, so she ran to check on her. Mom was okay so Mia jumped up into her bedroom window. As she sat on the sill, she saw this large furry four-legged creature crawl under the fence and into the backyard.
It looked like a big fat cat to Mia but it was a raccoon. Mom walked back into the bedroom, walked by Mia, and stopped, she noticed the raccoon too. Mia and Mom watched as the raccoon scampered across the yard to the other side. Mom was about to climb back into bed when another raccoon crawled under the fence. It looked around, sniffed the ground, and scampered to the other side of the yard.
With no other critter's in sight, Mom climbed back into bed. Mia sat on the window sill for a little longer and gazed out the window. Just then, Mia felt something touch her tail and looked down.
“What are you doing in here?” Mia looked at Dukee.
“I wanted to look out your window,” Dukee whispered.
“You can’t be in here, you have to leave,” Mia stood up.
Dukee turned around and slowly walked toward the door. Mia hopped down and walked after Dukee. Because of that, it made Dukee scoot quicker out the bedroom door. Mia followed him out, so Dukee hurried into the family room.
“You know that you’re not supposed to be in our room,” Mia said.
“I know, but I wanted to see the view out your window,” Dukee looked at Mia.
“Well, you did miss it… A few minutes ago, Mom and I watched some large furry critters run through the yard.
“See, that’s what I mean, ”Dukee said.
“Well, if you were by the big sliding door, you would have seen them,” Mia said.
“Oh really?”
“Yep, so maybe next time,” Mia turned to go back to her room. “I’m going to sleep now.
“Okay, goodnight,” Dukee said.
Dukee figured that he better get to bed too, so he walked into his room and jumped up onto the bed. He looked at Auntie, did a little circle, laid down, and yawned.
