Dukee had got up from his nap and walked out into the family room. He looked around and walked over to his toy mouse. He tapped it a couple of times and then laid down by it. With a big yawn, I guess that I’m still sleepy, he thought. Just then, Mia crept up behind him.
“Boo,” Mia jumped in front of him.
“What are you doing?” Dukee looked at Mia.
“Just playing with you. Don’t you want to play?” Mia sat down.
“No, not right now,” Dukee yawned. “I’m still tired.”
“Didn’t you have a good nap?” Mia asked.
“No, not really. Didn’t you hear it? Our neighbor was riding around his yard on that noisy thing again,” Dukee said.
“Yes, I heard it, but I was in a box so the noise wasn’t as loud,” Mia licked her front paw.
Dukee stood up and started to walk into the hallway.
“Where are you going?” Mia followed him.
“I thought that I would look out the front living room window,” Dukee walked down the hallway.
“Okay,” Mia trotted past him and jumped up onto the kitty tower.
Dukee took his time walking up there. He stopped by the front door and peeked out the narrow window before he Jumped up onto the side table. Mia sat between the cube and the post of the kitty tower and watched Dukee walk to the end of the table. He sat down on the end of the side table and yawned again.
“Hey, look… It’s those white birds,” Mia said.
“Oh yeah, and they’re coming this way,” Dukee hopped down onto the blanket and watched as the white Ibis walked along the road.
“There must be a billion of them,” Mia said.
“No, I don’t think there’s a billion... Maybe twenty,” Dukee said.
The Ibis, click here is considered a wading bird with thin long legs and a curved narrow beak. They live in tropical areas and are generally found in groups.
“I like watching these birds and how they peck at the ground,” Mia wiggled her back end.
“Yeah, could you imagine chasing them and then watching them fly up above you?” Dukee watched as the birds roamed around in the front yard.
“Yeah, and I could see you running around trying not to get pecked at after you scared them,” Mia giggled.
“Ha ha very funny,” Dukee looked at Mia.
“What do you suppose they taste like?” Mia asked.
“Probably like chicken,” Dukee licked around the outside of his mouth.
“Yeah, chicken,” Mia wiggled her back end again.
“You can’t get them silly, you’re in the house,” Dukee watched Mia wiggle.
“I know, but I can imagine,” Mia watched the Ibis as they walked toward the driveway.
Dukee and Mia watched the birds as they left the front yard. When the birds were gone, Mia walked onto the table and over to her food dish.
“They made you hungry huh?” Dukee snickered.
“No, you made me hungry thinking about chicken,” Mia munched on some of her food.
“Well, I only said what I thought they would taste like. For all I know they could taste like a snake,” Dukee said.
“Eww… What does snake taste like?” Mia looked at Dukee.
“I don’t know, I never ate a snake. I only know that they are slippery,” Dukee said.
“Well, I would only eat a snake if I couldn’t find something else good to eat,” Mia crunched a couple of kernels.
Mia finished eating some of her food and then jumped up into the tunnel part of the kitty tower. Dukee licked his front paw to make sure that it was clean before moving on to the next one. Mia adjusted herself inside the tunnel while licking around the outside of her mouth. The two of them waited and watched for some more of Florida’s wildlife to come along. Have a good weekend everyone.
