Dukee walked up to the sliding glass door and waited to come inside. Mia was playing with her straw handle in the family room and saw Dukee by the door. She walked over to the door and teased him.
“Ha Ha, you can’t come in,” She giggled.
Dukee shook his head, “You just wait until I get in there.”
Mia walked away and went back to playing with her toy. About a minute later Auntie walked into the family room and saw Dukee at the door. She opened the door and Dukee darted inside. Mia watched to see if he would chase her but he didn’t. Auntie went back to the front living room and Dukee walked up to Mia.
“I’m going to steal your toy,” with one swipe of his paw he had the straw handle.
“Hey, that’s mine,” Mia whined.
“Come and get it,” Dukee batted it across the floor.
He trotted over and stood by the toy and watched her as she stopped a couple of feet away. She didn’t want to get too close to him. Dukee giggled and walked away from it. Mia ran over to the toy and picked it up in her mouth. She trotted down the hall and stopped by the front door. Dukee walked into his bedroom to get something to eat.
Mia tossed the straw handle into the air and jumped at it. Then she left it lying there in the main walkway by the front door. She walked over to Mom as she was reclined, stood up, and rubbed her head on her foot. Then she walked over to the table where her food was and hopped up. She ate a few pieces of food, took a drink of water, and hopped down. She walked around the corner of the sofa and saw her Lamb-chop toy sitting there. She picked it up and tossed it into the air.
She batted it softly when it landed, and then laid down by it. She licked it a couple of times like she was bathing it. Mia was given Lamb-chop by her first Mom when she was a tiny kitten. And Lamb-chop has been her favorite toy ever since.
Dukee walked out of his bedroom after having something to eat, walked down the hall, and over to where Mia was laying.
“Where’s your other toy?” Dukee asked.
“It’s over there,” Mia licked Lamb-chop.
“You like that thing huh?” Dukee looked at Lamb-chop.
“Yep,” She licked it again.
“When I was younger, my favorite toy was my rabbit. It was Auntie’s but I took it from her,” Dukee said.
“She let you do that?” Mia asked.
“Yeah, she didn’t care. I think she was happy that I liked it,” Dukee licked the pad of his front right foot.
“Do you have a favorite now?” Mia asked.
“No, not really… I have a few favorites I guess. It all depends on my mood and what I want to play with,” Dukee said.
“Yeah, I can understand that,” Mia looked at him.
Dukee walked past her and went to the narrow window by the front door. He saw a lizard on the front porch screen and flicked his tail. Mia got up and walked over to the other narrow window on the other side of the door.
“Those lizards just like to hang out here and tease us,” she said.
“Yeah, I know they do,” Dukee flicked his tail again.
They watched while the lizard just sat there and another one crawled up by it. But it wasn’t long before Dukee jumped up onto the side table and walked to the end. He sat down, looked at Auntie on the sofa, and then looked outside. Mia walked on the shelf under the side table to the front of the sofa. Then she jumped up onto the kitty tower and laid down.

I have no idea why we keep spending money on toys for them. They seem very happy to play with weird things.
What is a straw handle? I got our girls a big crinklely carrot a week or so ago. Sophie played with it until Callie ate the end out of it. Catnio came running out of it. Nobody plays with it now. I didn't realize it had catnip in it.
