Dukee stood up on top of the stool and arched his back. He hopped down and took a few bites of his food. He then bent forward and stretched his paws out. Dukee walked out into the family room and looked around. It was pretty quiet in the house. He walked down the hallway and up to the narrow window by the front door. He saw a lizard on the outside of the screen on the porch. He watched it for a minute and walked around the dining table and into the kitchen.
As he made his way through the kitchen and back into the family room, he saw a small shadow. He stopped and waited by the end of the sofa. Dukee watched to see if he knew who it was. All of a sudden Mia popped around the other end of the sofa.
“Are you waiting on me?” She giggled.
“No, but I thought I saw your shadow,” Dukee said.
Dukee walked past her and walked up to the sliding glass door. He sat down and looked out. Mia walked up and sat down about two feet away.
“What were you doing late last night?” Dukee asked.
“What do you mean?” Mia looked at him.
“I heard to thumping around in your room,” He said.
“Oh, I was playing… I was running around playing,” She said.
“Didn’t your Mom mind you doing that?” Dukee looked at her.
“No, she was still awake and watching the TV,” Mia said.
“It sounded like you were bouncing off the walls in there. I was trying to sleep on that chair when I heard you,” Dukee watched a bird fly down.
“Oh, sorry… I had some pent-up energy that just wanted to come out,” Mia hopped.
“Well, you’re lucky that Auntie didn’t say anything about it,” Dukee said.
“Do you know if I woke her?” Mia asked.
“No, I don’t,” Dukee said.
“Well, I’m sure she understands. You get pretty loud sometimes too,” Mia looked at him.
“True, but I’m not bouncing off the walls,” Dukee giggled.
Mia turned around and walked through the kitchen and into the front living room. Mom had just walked out there and sat in her chair. She hopped up and rubbed her head on Mom’s foot. She decided to hop up by her food and eat a little.
Dukee let out a meow and scratched on the chair by the glass door. Auntie came out of her room and let Dukee out onto the back porch. He looked around and saw a lizard on the outside of the screen. He hopped up to try and get it but it scurried off.
Mia finished nibbling and hopped back down. She walked over to Mom and again rubbed her head on Mom’s foot. She turned around and climbed into her paper cave. She laid down and got comfortable. She looked up at Mom and then put her head down. Since she was up so late running around, she now needed a nap.
Dukee just walked around out on the porch and then he laid down in a warm patch of sunshine.
