Mia woke up from her ten minute cat nap and crawled out of her paper cave. She walked over to Mom’s chair and stretched her two front paws up. Mom patted her gently on the head and Mia got down. She trotted through the kitchen, through the family room, and into her bedroom. She picked up her baby Lamb-chop with her mouth and carried it out the bedroom door.
She trotted through the family room, down the hallway, and into the front living room. Mia set her Lamb-chop down by Mom’s feet. Mom looked down and thanked Mia for the present. She hopped up by her water dish and lapped up a few drinks of water. Then she walked over to the window and looked out. The only thing she saw was a little bug flying around the screen. So she watched it.
Auntie walked out into the family room to check on Dukee. When he saw her he got up and walked to the door. Auntie let him in then and went back to her room. Dukee walked down the hallway and into the front living room. He jumped up onto the side table and saw Mia by the window. He walked to the end and sat down. Since Mom was sitting in the living room too, Dukee didn’t say anything.
Dukee just watched as Mia was following the movement of the little bug outside on the screen. Mia pawed at the window a couple of times even though she knows that she can’t get it. Dukee watched as a squirrel ran across the wires to the tree. It hopped onto one of the branches and climbed down. Mia was so focused on the bug that she didn’t even notice the squirrel.
All of a sudden a lizard crept around the corner and onto the screen. It darted close to the bug and ate it. Mia pounced at the window which made a loud bang. Mom was startled and yelled, Mia! Dukee giggled at Mia as she backed away from the window. The lizard had moved higher up on the screen when Mia hit the window. Mia looked at Mom and then at Dukee. Mia giggled and went back to watching the lizard.
Dukee sat there and watched the lizard too as it slowly crept around on the screen. Mia decided to crawl up into her tunnel on the kitty tower and lay down. The two of them just kept one eye on the lizard and looked around outside. One never knows what might happen outside of the house.
