Mia ran as fast as she could out of her bedroom. Her furry feet tend to have trouble gripping the wood floor, but she manages. Mom had walked out to the front living room a few minutes prior. Mia ran up to Mom to see what she was doing. Mia was getting her litter box cleaned.
Because Mom was busy, Mia ran off again. This time she ran through the kitchen, into the family room, around the sofa, and stopped under the wingback chair. She laid down to take a rest.
Dukee casually walked into the family room, looked around, and saw Mia. He walked over to the chaise lounge chair which was now close to the wingback chair.
“I remember when I was as young as you… I also ran a lot. Now I get a little short of breath easier,” Dukee looked at Mia.
“Well, you still run though,” Mia said.
“Yes, that’s because I need my exercise, and I get pent-up energy that I have to get out sometimes… But I do get tired quicker,” he said.
“I love to run, it’s fun… But this floor sometimes feels slippery,” Mia looked at the floor.
“I don’t think it’s the floor little one, It’s your hairy feet,” Dukee looked at her.
Mia picked up her leg and looked at the bottom of her paw, “It does stick out there pretty good doesn’t it?”
Dukee lifted his front paw and showed her, “Yes, a lot more than mine.”
“Well, I can’t help that I have beautiful long fur,” Mia licked her paw.
“You are so funny,” Dukee said.
“Why?”
“Because you’re cute, young, and conceited,” Dukee said.
“What’s conceited?” Mia looked at Dukee.
“Well, it’s when you think that you are better than everyone else,” Dukee licked his paw.
Mia paused and thought for a moment… “I don’t know everyone else, I only know you guys.”
Dukee looked at her and shook his head… “I know, you are still learning.”
Dukee turned and walked toward the kitchen. Mia got up and followed him.
“What are you going to do?” Mia asked.
“Nothing, I’m just going to look out this window,” Dukee walked into the dining area.
Mia followed him as he hopped up onto the bench seat. They both sat there and looked out the window, watching for something to come their way. With the two cars parked in the driveway, it wasn’t as easy to see the street. But they could see the squirrels and birds when they stop by.
