As Princess Mia and Dukee watched out the front window, they saw something that looked very strange to them. Dukee hopped down onto the blanket that lays on top of Mia’s litter box cabinet. He laid down and peered out the window at this thing.
“What is that?” Mia whispered.
“I don’t know,” Dukee said.
The thing walked out of the woods just up the road. It was dark grey, has four legs, floppy little ears, it’s chubby, and has a little squiggly tail. I think that might be a pig… But where did that come from?
Dukee and Mia concentrated on its every step as it walked along the edge of the road. It was walking right towards the house. Well, that’s what Mia and Dukee thought at first. It stepped back onto the grass and nosed around a bit. It walked up to the stop sign and sniffed the ground around that, and looked up and around.
“So, you have never seen one of those before?” Mia whispered to Dukee.
“No, I haven’t… Not in all my life,” Dukee whispered back.
Mom was so focused on what she is doing on her laptop that she didn’t hear Mia and Dukee whispering back and forth.
“I know that’s not a dog,” Mia watched it.
“Nope, definitely not,” Dukee whispered.
The pig walked over to the front of those woods which connect with our street and looked around. It was almost like it didn’t know where it was. It bent its head down and sniffed the ground some more. It might have nibbled on some of the grass there.
“The time that I have lived here, I have never seen that before,” Mia whispered.
Mom had gotten up from her recliner and left the room.
“Well, didn’t I tell you that you will have a chance to have more memories as you grow?” Dukee looked at Mia.
“Yes you did,” Mia giggled.
Just then a car rushed down the road, and the pig ran back into the woods. Just as easily as it appeared, quickly it disappeared.
“Life is just full of interesting things, isn’t it?” Mia looked at Dukee.
“It sure is,” Dukee said.
