Mia was sitting on the window sill in the front living room when Dukee ran in. He jumped up onto the side table and walked to the end.
“Guess what?” He looked at Mia.
“What?” Mia looked at Dukee.
“Auntie is dedicating our story today to your Mom,” Dukee licked his front right paw.
“She is? How come?” Mia asked.
“Auntie said that your Mom tries to share and repost all of her writings to get more readers. And that doing all that alone takes some time to do. Auntie appreciates your Mom for trying to help her grow as an author,” Dukee said.
“Oh, well that’s nice of her,” Mia looked out the window.
“Yep, and because making a living as a writer doesn’t stress Auntie out as much as other work, she needs all the help that she can get,” Dukee said.
“What do you mean to make a living?” Mia stepped around onto the kitty tower.
“Well, make money from writing. Some people go out and work at other places to make money. Auntie has done that in the past but it’s very stressful for her,” Dukee looked out the window.
“But what does making money do?” Mia lay down in the cube part of the kitty tower.
“When our humans make money, they can take care of us and each other better. You know like that food that you get from your Mom is because of money. She earns money so that she can go out and buy it for you,” Dukee looked at Mia.
“Oh, I didn’t know that. So does that mean that when Mom shares Auntie’s stories, Auntie pays her for doing that?” Mia asked.
“Well, Auntie wishes that she could but she’s not making enough money to do that yet. I think that when Auntie starts publishing more stories for money or even books, she will start making good money. But until then, she just tries to let your Mom know that all that she does is appreciated,” Dukee hopped down onto the litter box cabinet.
“Oh, I see now… Kind of like when I give Mom kisses for everything she does for me,” Mia watched Dukee lie down.
“Yeah, sort of,” Dukee licked his side.
“So, even though this story is usually about us, today it’s about Mom and Auntie,” Mia said.
“Yep, so all you readers who read this story please share it like Mia’s Mom does. And Auntie said that she will be writing a story soon for readers who want to help us out financially. So be on the lookout for it,” Dukee said.
“And have a good rest of your week everyone,” Mia said.
