Turning Wheels Of My Mind

Hello everyone and welcome to a new year. I wanted to write a story for you today but could not come up with anything. So instead, I wrote what is in my head right now. I have so many thoughts rolling around in there about the way people are. Some people are full of love and understanding. Some people live life and want to understand more. Some people do not care to learn and understand things. And some people need to have everything done according to their belief and be heard all of the time.

I believe myself to be someone who cares and wants to understand all. I might not agree with some people on some topics, but I do listen to their opinions. Which brings me to a few topics that some people will find touchy, but I am going to share my thoughts on them here. First of all, the abortion thing.

The right to abort a fetus topic has been around since the early 1900’s. I can understand how some people feel that an abortion is killing a living being. In most cases at a more progressed stage it is. The embryo inside a female starts out looking somewhat like a tiny kidney bean with no arms, legs, or any other working organs. It’s little heart does not start to beat until five weeks into the pregnancy. So my point here is that if a female wants an abortion early on, there should not be an issue. Even at a more progressed stage, if situations such as severe illness or death are a problem, it shouldn’t be an issue either.

Without going into a lot of detail, I will give only one of my reasons why it should be okay to get an abortion. Your eleven year old daughter was abducted and raped. You found out that she was now five weeks pregnant because of the rape. Would you have your traumatized daughter carry this fetus the whole nine months? Let’s say that you do. Are you going to raise the baby or are you going to shove the responsibility off onto the state in which you live?

I honestly could go into more reasons why abortion should be left up to the individual but I will stop at that one. Next topic is violence and mental illness. People who struggle with mental illness also struggle with the disgrace from other’s because they don’t have the full understanding. Not all people with a mental illness have violent tendencies. There are many mental illnesses, and individuals who struggle with one or two learn how to cope with them. They seek treatment, do therapies and take medication which usually helps.

The thing is, depending on the mental illness, just like physical health, some illnesses are more difficult to deal with. Some people might not follow the treatment plan prescribed and use non-prescribed drugs or alcohol to cope. And that only makes everything worse and should not be done. Some people might not even know that they struggle with a mental illness and use drugs and alcohol to cope with life’s struggles. Once again, those only make things worse.

Now, when it comes to mental illness and violence, if treatment is followed properly, it does not go hand in hand. Most people with mental illness are prone to harming themselves more then they would do harm to others. Violence in people happen usually because of substance abuse, personality characteristics, undiagnosed trauma, brain injury, genetics, undiagnosed neurochemical imbalance, and unresolved conflicts. I am not saying that violent people do not have a mental illness, but if they do have one or two, it has not been treated correctly or even diagnosed. So let us stop this stigma with mentally ill people.

The last topic I want to express my opinion about is the gay and lesbian community. I have no problem with individuals looking for love within the same sex. They are working people just like us with feelings, emotions, opinions and ideas. They struggle with things in life just like us and probably even more. I do not believe that the love between to adult people is perverse in any way except when two siblings are involved. What is perverse is a sexual relationship between blood connected siblings and adults with children.

In the bible homosexuality is mentioned and it basically says that same sex love was not in God’s design and is a sin. That is why God created a male and a female. I understand that completely. But, I also believe that if a same sex couple loves one another, maybe even more than a male and female couple, it should be alright. I feel that if that couple is in no way pushing their beliefs or lifestyle on others, then I don’t believe it is a sin. God is about love and showing love towards others not hatred and destruction.

In the bible it also states that sexual affairs, divorce, lying, abuse, and so much more are sins. Are people going to start protesting about all those as well? Yes, abuse of any kind should be stopped and the abuser should be punished. Sexual affairs and divorce happen everywhere, even within the people who you might truly respect. Lying floods a lot of the political world much of the time but nothing can be done about that.

What I think might be happening in our world is that some people only learn a little about some things and make a quick judgement. Some people were taught specific things and expect everything to go exactly that way. And then, what they don’t understand and refuse to learn about, is because that is all wrong too. Without knowledge and advancement we become ignorant and idle.

I know that with my way of thinking, being somewhat Godly and somewhat transitional, it is possible that I might not go to heaven either. But I do know that while I am alive, I will be the best person that I can be and care for everyone who deserves to be cared for. If you are a hater, you will only get my prayers. If you love and try to understand things, you will get my respect. After all, doesn’t God want us all to love each other and help one another? I think so.

If anything that I wrote offended you in any way, it might just be how you took it. It was not my intention to offend anyone, but to make some people think about the issues in play. May God bless you all.
