First off smiling is healthy for you. According to Walden University, “smiling increases mood enhancing hormones while decreasing stress-enhancing hormones like cortisol”. When we smile naturally it happens because of something good that we have seen, heard or even thought about. Just like my great-niece in the photo above, we also look good when we smile.
When we smile, it not only helps us physically and mentally, but it can help others too. If you smile and say good morning to someone, most of the time you will get a reaction. They might just smile back or respond with a good morning too. Of course there are some people who will ignore you completely. Do not take it personally. But when you smile at someone, it will get the thoughts moving around in their head. Just like the photo above, with that smile, my thought is that she is just having fun and enjoying the moment.
As mood enhancing hormones are released, at that moment, the day feels better. Your thoughts might change to more positive ones. Your feeling about the moment or day will lift and hopefully end just as well. A simple smile can let someone know that you care. A person might see your smile and think, today will be a good day. Of course others might think that you are up to something, but that is not your fault. We cannot control how all people think, even about a simple smile. Just know that you are reaching someone with your smile in a good way and they appreciate it.
Until next week, have a wonderful day and God bless.

Smiling does help us and even some who don't smile much.
