Hello everyone. Today I have to write a few things about scammers. I have written about scammers in the past and told you not to answer phone numbers that you do not recognize or click on any texts or links that you are not sure of. Well once again we need to listen to our instincts because when something feels off it usually is.
Most recently you might have heard on the news or ran across it online that scammers are sending out emails saying that they have hacked your computer and they have all of your personal information. The scammer will tell you that they will spread your information all over the internet if you do not pay them to stop. They might even show a picture of your house in the email along with some personal information. But do not believe them. Most generally they got this information through public records and want you to believe that they have more. Do not send them money, please. Report them if you can.
Another thing that I ran across recently was on Instagram. Scammers will take videos from popular people who are speaking about something completely different and change them up digitally just a little bit and add a link to it. Scammers believe that if you see someone like Dwayne Johnson talking about this course or item (which he is not) that you will want a part of it too. This link that you click on will then give you a bunch of bull so that they can get money or information from you. It is sad but I have seen it.
Here is something that almost fooled me. There was this man who supposedly came into millions of dollars with Powerball and was willing to give some of it away as blessings for those less fortunate. This person had a video and some pictures of his supposed win and pictures of people thanking him for his blessings. Do not believe any of it. If you show any interest in their page such as liking something about it, they will reach out to you and try to convince you that what you saw is all legit. They will even preach Gods word and blessings for you but do not believe it. It is a scam. They will do everything possible to get money from you in the end.
If you are unsure about some offer that you have seen or a person that reaches out to you, it is best to do some research. If you don’t know how to go about that, ask a trusted friend because they might know something more about it. For example, something that I found about this person’s page who said he gives out blessing’s, was the start date marked on his page. The date said 2013 but the only thing posted on that page were just 24 posts that he did this year to do with his win and gift giving. I am not sure what he did between 2013 and now but I find it very fishy.
And lastly, be aware when you do clink on a link for something and it takes you to another page with another link, and then another link, it most generally will be a waste of time. For example, I have seen some courses offered on certain things and most generally they have some information for you but in the end, it costs you something to get more information. You are better off looking into some regular schooling on the subject outside of these links. See, the people connected to those links get paid a tiny amount of money each time someone clicks their link. They won’t get rich doing that because basically it is also a scam.
In conclusion, always believe in your gut or your instincts. If it seems to good to be true, it usually is. And always do some research on what you find of interest before dishing out any money. And if possible, report the scammer if you can. Here is a phone number for that department of the FBI (202) 324-3000 and a link online. FBI scam and tips link
By reporting scammers it will hopefully stop them from scamming and hurting others. You work hard for your money so why hand it to someone else who is trying to cheat you. Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day.
