After a night out with Joe Dunken, detective Williams woke up relaxed and refreshed. He felt confident that they were going to arrest their killer today. When Williams arrived at the police station, the chief was already there. Officer Brown was supposed to have checked in with him this morning but hadn’t yet.
“What’s going on, the chief is here awfully early?” Williams asked officer Dunken.
“No one has heard from Brown and they can’t seem to reach him either. The chief just sent Jones and Blackwell out to Gary Page’s place to see if Brown is still there.”
Williams was thrown off by this, and it made him wonder if he got Brown killed.
“Did anyone call Brown’s home? Maybe his cell phone died and he’s at home?” Williams asked.
“They did and there was no answer,” Dunken said.
Just then, the lab called Williams' cell phone and told him that they got the results of the blood sample’s back. The tech told Williams that the blood from the knife was from the last victim. The blood from the two fabric pieces was from the first victim, Ms. Bono and Gary Page. He probably cut himself at one point while struggling with the victim she told Williams.
“Okay, great, thank you,” Williams said.
“One more thing. We also found a tooth in the burn barrel but we weren’t able to distract any DNA from it,” the tech said.
“A tooth? So, he might have burned a body in there as well?” Williams asked.
“It’s possible but there is no other evidence of that,” she said.
“Okay, thank you very much for the rush you put on it,” Williams said and hung up his phone.
“What was that about a tooth?” officer Dunken asked.
