At the lab some of the investigative team did what they had to do to get prints off the burn barrel. Then, they carefully emptied the contents of the burn barrel onto a clean plastic sheet. It took them hours to pick through the ash and find any usable evidence. By the end of the day, on the two small pieces of fabric that they found in the barrel, forensics did note that they found human blood. Now they just need to find out whose blood it is.
At the police station, detective Williams tried to convince Chief Chambers to put a tail on Gary Page. When the lab informed Williams that they found human blood on some fabric, he knew action needed to be taken.
“Chief, if we don’t keep an eye on Page, if he hasn’t already, he might wise up and run,” Williams said.
“I thought that you said early on that he thinks he’s too smart to get caught?”
“I did, but now he knows we found the knife and the peace lilies, so I wouldn’t put it past him to try and run.”
