It was almost 7 pm and Detective Williams did all that he could at the latest victim's house. He needed to get in touch with Miss Montgomery’s only known living relative, her cousin Catherine. Officer Dunken tried to get a hold of her earlier but she didn’t answer. Williams did find out through Sharon at the police station, that there are over twenty people in town who own a blue Volkswagen Beetle, the year 1985 and newer.
“Okay, did you find the names of the five who own a 1985 model?” Williams asked her.
“Yes, and one of them is Gary Page,” Sharon said.
“Really? Ok, then I’m going to go over to his place and talk to him. Thank you Sharon, and I’ll see you in the morning,” Williams put his cell phone down.
Detective Williams started his car and headed over to Mr. Page’s home on the outskirts of town. By the time he pulled into Page’s driveway, it was quarter to eight at night. Williams got out of his car and saw one light on which looked to be in the living room. As he walked up to the ranch-style house, he heard what sounded like voices coming from a TV. Williams walked up the three steps to the front porch and then pushed the button on the doorbell. He waited a minute and then knocked, but still no answer.
While Williams waited for Gary to answer the door, he glanced around. Just as he pushed the doorbell again, he peeked into one of the front windows.
“Do you always look in other people’s windows?” Gary Page walked around from the side of the house.
