The next day, detective Williams sat at his desk and thought about a plan of action for when he finds out that the weapon found on Gary Page’s property is the murder weapon. Since Williams didn’t take the knife out of the sheath to look at it, it left him curious as to what kind of knife it was. He decided to call the lab just to find out if the knife was a Japanese garden knife.
“Hello, this is detective Rowan Williams and I’m calling about the knife in the leather sheath that was brought in yesterday.”
“Yes, we haven’t had a chance to work on the burn barrel yet but we did examine the knife,” the lab person said.
“Good, what did you find out?”
“Hold on, let me get the file.”
“Okay, it is a Hori Hori garden knife made in Japan, and even though most of it was wiped clean, we were still able to find a trace of blood and a partial print. The sheath also had prints on it,” the lab person said.
“Do you have a picture of the knife and a printout of the finger prints?” Williams asked.
