Twas the hour before Christmas with not far to go. With a few houses left before heading back home. With Comet in front and his elf by his side, Santa hopped in his sleigh and was ready to ride. With time running out he had to be quick, down the chimney he slid with the gifts that he picked. Under the tree he did place them, the boxes with bows, then nodded his head and up the chimney he rose.
Santa hurried and hustled to get his work done, before the children would wake by the shining sun. He ate the last cookie and drank the last milk, before dropping his scarf that was made out of silk. He left the last house and hopped in his sleigh, and commanded his reindeer to now dash away. A night of hard work brought Santa great joy, because he had seen the smiles of every girl and boy.
As morning arrived, momma got up. She walked into the living room and saw all the stuff. Santa has been here she thought it is true, looking around there’s not much else to do. Momma glanced towards the table and saw on the floor, something red and silky that wasn’t there before. The milk was gone too and no cookies on the plate, she picked up the scarf and said, Santa must have been running late.
When her daughter ran in and saw presents galore, momma tucked the red scarf in her coat by the door. Momma watched as her daughter tore open the gifts, she smiled and was happy, they were on her list. As the children of the world opened their presents, Santa was home now eating some pheasant. Another year over and the hard work is done, Santa was ready for some eggnog and fun. He hung up his coat and locked up his sleigh, and wished his elves a Merry Christmas day.
