Jonathan sat on his new patio chair petting Knight when something caught Knight’s eye. He jumped up and darted off Jonathan’s lap. Knight ran into the long grass just over Jonathan’s property line.
“Okay, see you later,” Jonathan called out.
I wonder what he saw, I didn’t see anything, Jonathan thought. Jonathan sat there for a few minutes and soaked up the warm air and the fresh country smell. He was starting to feel at peace again even though he still thinks about the bodies that were found on his property. That can never be changed so he has to find a way to live with it. Making the house his own is a big step in finding the peace he deserves.
Now that Jonathan has the outside of the house painted the way he likes it, it’s finally starting to feel like home to him. Jonathan looked at the house and his paint job and felt pleased. After all, that’s happened here, I think Heather would still love it here, he thought.
By this time it was around one o’clock and Jonathan wanted to have some lunch. So he got up from the chair and walked into the house. I should do some laundry, he thought. So before making himself some lunch, he went upstairs to gather up his dirty clothes and towels. He carried them downstairs in his canvas hamper bag and went down into the basement.
Jonathan sorted his clothes and started the washer with the light colors first. Down in the basement was a lot of open space. His new washer and dryer were down there with a small table sitting by the dryer. Considering how old the house was the walls and cement floor was in really good shape. I guess the previous owners didn’t use this basement much, he thought.
“I know, I can set my office up down here,” Jonathan looked around.
