When Jonathan’s coffee was done brewing, he poured himself a cup and inhaled the pleasant aroma. He sat down at the table that was in the kitchen and enjoyed his coffee. He glanced around at the walls. Maybe I’ll pick up some new paint too while I’m at the hardware store, he thought.
Jonathan felt at ease not hearing the noise of city traffic and sirens. Just the chirping of the Robin’s and Cardinals in the trees. He finished his first cup of coffee and poured himself a second one. As he stood there by the sink now, he looked out the window. The tree branches were moving slightly with the wind and he noticed that sparkle again from whatever it is hanging in the tree. He looked beyond his yard and saw sporadic apple trees and grass that belonged to another neighbor who lived further down the road.
After he finished his coffee he rinsed out his cup and set it on the counter. He shut off the coffee pot, check his back pocket for his wallet, and grabbed his car keys. He opened up the back door and there was a small basket sitting on the porch. He picked it up and looked it over. It had a few apples and a container of chocolate chip cookies in it.
“Hmm, I wonder who this is from?” He took it inside and put it on the table.
Jonathan locked the door behind him and walked down the steps to his car. The hardware store was about ten miles away and a grocery store was near there. He wasn’t sure about any other stores though. He’s hoping that there is a store close that carries furniture.
