When Sunday morning came around, Jonathan was looking forward to spending some time with Joe. He pulled a couple of T-bone steaks out of the freezer and put them in the refrigerator for later. Jonathan set up his coffee maker as usual but also poured himself a small glass of orange juice while he waited. He walked to the back door and peeked out the window and didn’t see Knight anywhere. I wonder where he goes, Jonathan thought.
Jonathan finished his glass of orange juice so he washed out the glass and put it back in the cabinet. He walked into the downstairs bathroom and took out the sanitizing wipes from under the sink. He thought that since he had someone coming over later that he would wipe the sink and toilet down. I’ll change out the hand towel too, he thought. When Jonathan was finished in the bathroom, he carried the dirty hand towel into the kitchen and tossed it by the basement door. I should do a load of towels, he thought.
The coffee was almost done brewing, but Jonathan ran upstairs anyway to get the towels from his bathroom. Jonathan carried the dirty towels back down the stairs and grabbed the two hanging in the kitchen, and the one by the basement door. He walked down into the basement and put all the towels into the washer. He poured just over a cup of detergent into the machine, closed the lid, and pushed the start button. The finishing sound of the coffee maker caught Jonathan’s attention, so he trotted up the basement steps.
Jonathan grabbed his coffee cup from the strainer and poured the black goodness into his cup. He walked into the living room with his cup of coffee and gazed out the front window. I wonder if Investigator Jordan went up to Superior yet, Jonathan thought. He sipped his coffee and sat down in his recliner.
Jonathan couldn’t help to think about how close the police are getting to closing the case, “I will feel much better when this is all over,” he picked up the TV remote.
Jonathan turned on the television and switched to the local news channel. He listened to the different topics that the newscasters talked about but didn’t hear anything about the case. Jonathan finished his coffee so he got up, walked into the kitchen, and poured himself another cup. He went back into the living room and put his cup down on the end table. He sat down and changed the channel to another news station. The only thing that he heard was that the police have a lead to where the first owner of the house might be, and that they are still working on it.
