Jonathan walked back to the back of the barn and grabbed the shovel. He threw all the dirt back into the hole and stomped it flat with his foot. Then he put the shovel back inside the barn and walked out. Knight hopped up onto the chair and laid down as Jonathan stood there. I’ve got some work to do, he thought. Jonathan walked into the house and got a bottle of water out of the refrigerator.
He took a couple of drinks from the bottle and put it back. Jonathan went into the living room and turned the stereo on low. He then walked into his office and sat down at his desk. He turned on his laptop and fiddled with a pen while he waited for it to boot up. He was trying to get the image of the little girl out of his head but it was hard to do. After the laptop booted up, Jonathan checked his emails. One of his clients sent an email with an inquiry about one of his accounts.
Another email was a confirmation from ABC Septic.
“Oh yeah, I almost forgot about them coming,” Jonathan looked at the time on the computer screen.
It was almost 11:30 and ABC Septic said they would be there around one. I have some time to do some work before they get here, Jonathan thought. Jonathan opened up one of his client's files and looked at it. He was trying hard to focus on his work but the thought of that little girl kept popping up in his mind.
“Focus, focus,” Jonathan opened up another file.
An hour had passed and he was able to get some work done. He sent a reply email to his client explaining what they wanted to know. Jonathan got up from his desk and walked into the kitchen. He decided to fix himself some eggs for lunch. So he took the eggs out of the refrigerator, along with some butter. I think that I’ll have an egg sandwich, he thought.
While Jonathan was making his lunch, his cell phone rang. He walked into his office and picked it up off the desk. It only rang three times and said that it was an unknown caller. Jonathan put the phone back down and walked back into the kitchen. He put some bread in the toaster and lifted the lid off the pan. His sunny-side-up eggs were done and ready to be transferred. When the toast popped up, he buttered both pieces and then plopped his eggs on them.
