Jonathan drove home and pulled into his driveway. As he drove around the back of the house he noticed the barn door was open. He parked and got out of his car.
“Hello… Is there anyone there?” He called out.
By this time the sun was near the horizon but it was still light outside. Jonathan slowly walked towards the barn and called out again. Just then a big black crow landed on the roof of the barn and squawked. Even though Jonathan was startled he got to the open door and looked in. Inside the barn were some outdoor tools such as rakes, a shovel, and an old-looking leaf blower. There was also an old bicycle leaning up against a rail, and some heavily linked chains hanging up over a rafter.
Jonathan didn’t see anyone inside so he slid the door closed and walked to the house. I wonder if I’m going to have to put cameras up, he thought. He walked up the steps and unlocked the much-needed to be repainted door. He paused for a moment and listened to the quiet sounds of country nature. And enjoyed the fresh cool night air that just blew in his direction. A feeling of peace suddenly fell upon him. He hadn’t felt like that for some time now.
As he entered the kitchen and reached for the light switch, there was no light.
“Okay, I guess they didn’t turn the electricity on liked I asked.”
