As the day progressed, the sun shined a bit hotter but at least the temperature was staying low. Jonathan was now at the back of the house painting the grey color. It was around three o’clock and he was ready for something to eat. Jonathan climbed down off the ladder with the paint tray and set it down on the back porch. He went into the house and washed his paint-speckled hands in the kitchen sink.
At the store, Jonathan had bought some roast beef. So he took that out of the refrigerator along with some margarine and cheddar cheese. He got the bread out of the pantry closet and took out a paper plate from the cabinet. Jonathan made his sandwich and put everything else away. He grabbed his open bag of chips, and a bottle of water, and went into the living room.
Jonathan turned on the television and some talk show was on. He just left it because he knew he wouldn’t be watching it long anyway. This is pretty good roast beef, he thought. He ate some chips in between the bites of his sandwich and drank down the whole bottle of water. When he was done, he got up and went into the kitchen. Jonathan threw his plate and empty chip bag away, and then went back outside.
“I’m almost done with the main part of the house and it looks pretty good,” Jonathan stepped off the porch and looked at it.
