Jason and Nancy left the storage closet and carefully made their way back to Julie’s room. When they got there, Julie had just woke up. Jason handed Julie her clothes and told her to get dressed because they were going to leave. Julie noticed that Jason was panicked and asked what was wrong. Jason explained that something bad was in the hospital and that they had to get out of there. Julie looked over at Nancy and asked who she was. Jason told her that her name is Nancy and that she needed help.
Nancy turned around and looked out the window so that Julie could change into her clothes. Jason helped Julie out of bed and told her that everything will be okay once they get out of the hospital. He knew that the Journey out of the hospital will be a gruesome sight for the two ladies so he warned them. He explained to them that he was pretty sure that everyone else was dead and that they might see some dead bodies.
Julie finished dressing and said that she was ready. Jason went to the room door and carefully opened it. He looked out into the hall and the coast was clear. Jason then led the way with Julie and Nancy right behind him. The hospital seemed very quiet at the moment so Jason hoped that the killing machine was gone. When they made their way to the end of the hall, Jason peeked around the corner. As he continued on toward the elevator, Julie suddenly stopped when she saw the doctor’s bloody body laying there.
Nancy called out to Jason. Jason stopped and walked back to her and Julie. He told Julie that there was nothing that they could do for the doctor now and that they have to leave. Julie stared at the doctor’s dead body but nodded her head in agreement. Jason took Julie by the hand and pulled her along. When they got to the elevators Nancy asked Jason if he honestly thought they could get out of the hospital. Jason told her that there had to be a way to unlock the doors.
The three of then rode the elevator down to the main floor. When the door opened, they saw a few more bodies ripped to pieces. Jason guided the ladies down the hall and to the main entrance. He tried the doors but they would not budge. He looked around for a button at the receptionist desk but could not find one. Jason told Julie and Nancy that they need to find another door.
Nancy told Jason that the Emergency Room was down the hall and to the left and that they might be able to get out that way. Jason agreed and had the ladies hurry. When they got to the end of the hall, the three of them stopped and Jason peeked around the corner. The hallway leading into the ER looked like a war zone. There were bodies and parts of bodies everywhere. Jason told the ladies what he saw and to just focus on getting out of there.
Nancy and Julie nodded in agreement and then followed Jason. As they carefully made their way, Nancy had to stop once to vomit because the smell was overwhelming. Jason asked her if she was all right and she told him that it was the smell. Julie looked stunned as she glanced around at all the bodies. Jason asked her if she was going to be all right and she nodded yes.
Once Jason accepted that the ladies were okay, he headed toward the ER. But Jason suddenly stopped when he saw that one of the entrance doors in the ER was shattered. He glanced around and then had the feeling of relief and fear at the same time. Was some thing going to attack him before he gets out? And was his active city still the same as it was, he thought.
Nancy and Julie walked up alongside Jason. Nancy asked him if he was worried about what he might see out there. Jason nodded yes but told her that there was only one way to find out. As Jason walked toward the doors, Nancy noticed Julie sniffing the air. She called out to Jason so he stopped and looked. Just before Julie could say anything about the smell, a very large creature crept in from one of the rooms.
As Julie stared at the creature, her body started to change. Her skin started to puff out and spread as if it were making more room to grow. The creature watched and so did Jason and Nancy. Then Julie’s arms and legs started to grow longer and thicker. Nancy told Jason that it was too late for Julie and that they needed to get out of there and fast. Even though Jason was sad to see that happening to his wife, he knew that Nancy was right.
Jason and Nancy hurried out through the shattered glass door and ran into the parking lot. They tried to open a couple of car doors but they were all locked. So they ran at least a block and a half away from the hospital and stopped. Nancy held her side and tried to catch her breath. Jason bent over and tried to relax his hard breathing. After about a minute or two, Nancy glanced around. She was surprised to not see a single person. Where is everyone, she thought.
Jason stood back up and looked at Nancy. He saw the concern in her face so he looked around. Where is everyone, he said. That is what I would like to know she replied. There has got to be someone else around Jason said. The two of them walked down the sidewalk and turned at the next street. What they saw next would change their lives forever.
Creatures of different sizes and color roamed around and devoured what looked like parts of people. Some of them clung to the sides of the buildings while others broke windows as if they were looking for something. Was this the end of human civilization or will these things die off when they run out of food? We can only hope that the human race will continue on.

Oh wow. Not anyone else around there, human, alive ? !
This story was great. I even had thoughts of, wow, this could really happen somehow. God forbid that it does. It still has me double thinking about bottled water.
This story put the fear in me while reading it. It's that good !.
