Mia was in the family room laying on the floor near the sofa, and staring at grandpa's closed bedroom door. Dukee walked through the kitchen from the dining area and saw her there.
Dukee stopped and asked, “why are you laying there?”
Mia looked at Dukee and replied, “I was just thinking about grandpa. I hope that he is doing well.”
Dukee turned and looked at the door, “I'm sure he is. But I know, it has been a lot quieter here.”
“Yes it has. I didn't like his big feet but I didn't mind seeing him,” Mia said.
Dukee was silent for a moment and then asked, “why didn't you like his feet?”
“Oh that's right, you weren't here yet. When I was still a baby, he stepped on my tail a couple of times,” Mia explained.
“Oh, yeah that hurts.” Dukee said.
“Yes it does. So since then, if he was walking, I made sure to stay away.”
Mia then got up, turned around, and walked toward the hallway.
Dukee watched Mia walk and then said, “he seemed like a nice guy though. He would say hello to me and occasionally pet me.”
Mia stopped and looked back at Dukee, “yes, he seemed okay. I remember when he still sat out there. I would sneak up behind his chair, creep up slowly by the arm of the chair, and then stand up and carefully tap the back of his arm. He would look down and say hello to me.”
“Yeah, I would say that he was pretty nice then,” Dukee said and then followed Mia into the living room.
Dukee walked over to the side table and jumped up onto it. Mia thought she heard something outside and quickly ran over to the kitty tower and jumped up onto it. Almost simultaneously they saw some visitors in the front yard. It was some white Ibis looking for food in the lawn. Mia climbed into the tunnel part of the kitty tower and did a soft chatter.
Dukee then hopped down onto Mia’s litter box cabinet and laid down. He was excited to see the Ibis again. Most of them are bright white birds and they have long curved beaks. Mia and Dukee find it interesting how they peck the ground to look for food.
So, until next time, Dukee and Mia hope that you have a wonderful week. Take care and love one another.
