“Meow, meow… Look at me,” Mia said to the lizard on the porch screen.
“Hi,” Dukee walked up to the bench that Mia was on.
“Oh, hello,” Mia glanced back at Dukee.
“Are you talking to lizards again?” Dukee asked.
“Well, I was trying to get that one to notice me but it either doesn’t hear me or it’s ignoring me,” Mia said.
“Well even if you do get its attention, what are you going to do, you can’t get it,” Dukee turned around and walked a few steps away.
Just then, the lizard scurried to the top of the screen. Mia chattered at it and then hopped down off the bench. She snuck past the scooter and crept under the dining table. Dukee laid down near the cabinet door and waited for Mia.
“How many lizards do you think there are out there?” Mia asked as she stepped under the chair.
“Outside? I’m sure there are many of them. Remember, Larry said that he has six children in his family,” Dukee said.
“Oh yeah… I bet there are millions of lizards out there,” Mia said.
Dukee thought about that for a second, “millions? That would be spooky to see millions of lizards in one place.”
“Yeah, but I didn’t mean all in one place,” Mia said.
“That’s good because even though I like playing with one once in a while, I don’t think I would like to have that many around me,” Dukee licked his paw.
“You are funny,” Mia said.
“Why do you say that?” Dukee looked at her.
“Because sometimes you sound so smart and other times you just amuse me,” Mia walked out from under the chair and into the kitchen.
Dukee watched Mia as she walked through the kitchen. Okay, I guess she’s done talking to me, he thought.
Mia went to her bedroom to see if her Mom was up yet. Dukee got up and jumped up onto the bench. He laid down, looked out the window and imagined the front yard full of lizards.
“Nope, I wouldn’t want that,” Dukee said and shook his head.
I can’t say that I blame Dukee for not wanting a yard full of lizards. It sort of reminds me of the old 1972 movie, “Frogs”. I know that I wouldn’t want to walk through a yard FULL of any critter. Until next time, have a wonderful weekend.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to see so many lizards or amphibians in my yard. It made me think of the scenes in a couple of the Jurassic movies where the little dinosaurs jumped up all over on people biting them.
