Mia and Dukee relaxed at the front of the house and talked about what they saw yesterday.
“When me and my mom heard something moving in the garden, we went to the window to see what it was. And that’s when I saw it,” Mia said.
“What did you see?” Dukee asked.
“Well, I heard my mom call it Arney. And then Auntie came out and said it was an arma, arma.”
“Armadillo,” Dukee said.
“Yeah, that’s it. Have you seen one before?” Mia asked and then sat up.
“Yep, I saw those where I used to live. They are an interesting looking critter aren’t they?” Dukee said.
“Yes they are. Why do they look like that?” Mia asked.
“I don’t know. Why do you look the way you do?” Dukee said.
Mia thought for a moment, “well, he was digging around in the dirt. If he had fur like me, he would get it all dirty.”
“That’s true, and I think what he has on protects him,” Dukee said.
“Protects him from what?” Mia asked.
“From you or bigger animals,” Dukee said.
“From me? I wouldn’t do anything to him,” Mia said.
“Well you and I might not, but bigger animals who are hungry might try to,” Dukee explained.
“Oh, I understand now. Well, I hope that nobody hurts Arney because he is fun to watch,” Mia said.
“Yes, I didn’t see this one for very long, but the ones I watched before are fun to watch. I like how their ears wiggle while they move around,” Dukee said and then yawned.
Mia giggle, “yeah, he does have ears as big as mine. By the way, I heard you meowing again during the night. What were you doing?”
“Oh, I was just playing with my toy. I woke my mom up too and she called me into our room,” Dukee said.
“So you were up early again. Is that why you are yawning right now?” Mia asked.
“Yes, probably. Being like a normal cat is exhausting,” Dukee said.
Mia giggled again, “maybe you should go back to the way you were and leave the night life to me.”
Dukee yawned again and then sat up, “see, because I’ve been so tired during the day, I’ve missed out on watching the armadillo.”
“Well, you saw the rabbit yesterday morning right?” Mia asked.
“Yes, I did. That was a nice surprise,” Dukee said.
“Maybe Arney will show up again today and then you can watch him,” Mia said.
“Yes, maybe. Until then, I’m going to go and take a nap,” Dukee said and walked down the hallway.
Mia laid back down and stretched all four legs out, “a little nap does so good right now.”
The life of a house cat can be very tiring. Eating, playing, napping, critter watching, eating, napping, playing… It sure can be exhausting.
Dukee and Mia hope that you all find some good critters to watch and have a wonderful day.
Lololol, a great conversation with Dukee and Mia today. I loved it !
